From: (Anonymous)I'd be interested in fic with that kind of story, but I would not be impressed with a fic that cast one of my favorites in that role - not just because I'd hate it personally, but because the description comes across as specifically wank-baity. "So-and-so gets a new, better best friend"? I've read that story lots of times in fandom, just without the gloss of RL oppressive politics.

From: (Anonymous)Fandom might lose its shit, but that doesn't mean it's objectively wrong to write this fic with Sid and Geno. It might even be more emotionally effective to use them because of people's existing feelings about the pairing and because Geno never is a homophobe by the end of a fic. Readers would expect him to come around, same as Sid in the story.
