#18 – If you owned a bar, how cheap would your shots be?

This is the eighteenth post of Deke Dangle RPF Anon, a community for all your ice hockey anon meme needs.

THE RULES

Most fic readers in "AO3" fandom don't like it, and for a large swath it's even an automatic backclick. I don't know why anyone would use it in those circumstances unless they were deliberately trying to turn people off.

Did you run some massive survey that I missed, or something?

I personally like "cum" over "come", but even if I didn't, it would be easy enough to do a find/replace. Much easier than trying to go from "come"->"cum", anyway.

I like "cum" more, too. I have noticed what AYRT pointed out so I usually go with "come" when writing, but a little part of me will never forget the first time I read "I'm coming" and immediately thought "Where are you going?" I guess come looks more classy? But, uh, that's not what I'm looking for in porn.

I have a super visceral no reaction to 'cum'. I have no idea why but it's the one word I seriously hate.

Same. I can tolerate cum instead of come after coming, but cuming/cumming makes me to nope the hell out of there. No idea why.

Then again, in this (very hot, much appreciated) fic I was most bothered with the author using them both. She cums, he's coming, nooooo, choose one, even if it's the one I dislike.

No massive surveys, but after years of fandoming and reading on AO3, it's engrained in my brain as sloppy writing/unpolished/a 'badfic' association. Nope, doesn't make it true or not, but that does seem to be a general consensus and has been for a long time.

But, hey, trends change. Maybe a new one is cumming.

Yes, especially when my least preferred spelling is, you know, gross and makes her look like she's blurbing the back of a porn DVD. This is not exactly a color/colour issue.
