Re: Fandom Venting
From: (Anonymous)Bettman forcing players to have tentacles for breeding/impregnation/added "intangibles" is completely plausible to me. I also really enjoying the idea of them having to debate this in the CBA. Maybe it's like shared rooms--used to be everyone, now it's just the ELC guys. Or guys who choose to share a room/keep their tentacles. There'd probably be some sort of strategic advantage to keeping them, plus guys who just enjoyed having them. The getting sent down thing just makes me want Drouin fic where he had major tentacle control issues and there was ~controversy~.
Yes, forbidden tentacle love could be the best! I'd be all for tentacle-on-tentacle sounding, too.
Re: Fandom Venting
From: (Anonymous)Yes, I was thinking about the rooms thing too. Drouin stuck in Halifax as the only guy with tentacles would be great, And when he finally learns control and returns, he's just in time for the playoffs etc.
Tentacle sounding is always good. Maybe they ask one of their friends to help and both their families think they are with him until something happens and everyone finds out the truth.
Re: Fandom Venting
From: (Anonymous)And then when Drouin comes back he knocks up Boyle (solely because the size difference involves totally works for me). It would be great if the guys who've had tentacles for a year or two (or who had tentacles) train the new guys and said training involves a lot of taboo touching and sex-type-things, and everyone in the league knows about it but they don't ever discuss or acknowledge it.
Oooh, fake tentacle dating? I am totally down for this.
Re: Fandom Venting
From: (Anonymous)Re: Fandom Venting
From: (Anonymous)Yes, Hedman is also acceptable! I am 10000% smaller guy knocking up much larger guy in any form (and if I wasn't, those gifs would have sold me. Nice.) Maybe a little bit of both? Which has the potential for mega angst for players who have trouble handling them for whatever reason.
Re: Fandom Venting
From: (Anonymous)That would be hot, and it's practical right? Bigger player = more space for eggs.
Like those kneeling fic where people have a mentor? But for tentacles. All the player know that they do stuff which is "wrong" but no one talks about it. What happens when your tentor gets traded do they start using it against you.
Re: Fandom Venting
From: (Anonymous)It would definitely be practical. Gotta get the most out of your egg carriers, after all.
I love the word tentor, haha. So much potential for drama and angst in this scenario. Especially when guys who get traded to use that knowledge against former teammates. There could also be angsty attempts at long-distance relationships and controversy about who the eggs a player is carrying belong to when they get traded.
Re: Fandom Venting
From: (Anonymous)So can a guy still play while he's carrying eggs?
Re: Fandom Venting
From: (Anonymous)I think it could go either way. I could see them being okay to play because weird handwavey biology (and also teams probably wouldn't want to sit guys, if their stars/skill players are the ones being knocked up). On the other hand, if they can't play when they're carrying the eggs, then I could see most guys doing the egg carrying being fringe players or guys who are already on IR for various reasons. Because at least then the team is getting something out of the contract. And with that option, you could have teams who target specific fringe players because they're good carriers. It would make life really interesting for journeyman types.
Re: Fandom Venting
From: (Anonymous)Ohhh, and when guys "don't play hockey anymore" (because they can't "retire" or it'd void their contract), they're full-time incubators? So Pronger, Savard, Dupuis now...
Beau Bennett has carried so many more eggs than anyone else in his draft class.
Re: Fandom Venting
From: (Anonymous)Yes, and potential for say the rookie getting traded and finding out that their tentor actually was just taking advantage of them. I do like angsty long distance relationships too.
I have more thoughts on forbidden tentacle on tentacle love (I'm way more into the tentacles than eggs) so there are creatures that have tentacles that can do amazing things, electric shocks, glow, change colour. People could be fascinated by just how different their tentacles are because they come from a long way apart or they are a lake type species and their new friend is a sea type.
And maybe one of them is cool with sex just for fun and the other is culturally conditioned that you only break out your tentacles when you are actually reproducing.
Re: Fandom Venting
From: (Anonymous)That's a spin on a Bruin being mean to TSegs I'd read. He was just using him for the tentacle breeding!
Re: Fandom Venting
From: (Anonymous)I love your thoughts on forbidden tentacle on tentacle love! Guys just being genuinely fascinated by all the differences and curious has the potential to be great (and also really sweet, depending on how it's written). I really like the idea of guys having different types of tentacles based on various creatures, too--lots of potential for variety and all sorts of weird abilities there. And possibly cross-species type stuff, too! A lake type getting together with a sea type is more taboo, etc.
I would read so many words of all of these scenarios. This is the best conversation about tentacles that I've ever had, lol.

From: (Anonymous)It was also the best conversation about tentacles I've ever had. We'll have to do it again sometime!
