No kidding? That explains the un-gifted 50ks and a 30k posted in the last three days...

Re: Fic Discussion

I mean, it could, if these are projects they didn't end up using for the exchange......

No need to get snarky anon. The only completed longfic I've seen are the Ekblad/Gudbrandson one,the Brioux fic and that terrible first person Crosby wip.

Re: Fic Discussion

Which terrible first person Crosby wip?

Re: Fic Discussion

From: (Anonymous)
This one specifically http://archiveofourown.org/works/6757369

The summary tricked me into thinking it might be badfic but still readable.

Re: Fic Discussion

From: (Anonymous)
That isn't first person.

Re: Fic Discussion

That's what I get for trying to read stuff when I'm tired and sick then. I only saw everything starting with "I"

da
It's still so bad, though. I tried to read it and got about three scrolls in and gave up. It's bad. I don't even know how to describe what makes it so horrible, it just reads very poorly.

DA It's so bad it's funny, at least to me.

Re: Fic Discussion

From: (Anonymous)
I don't even get what it's supposed to be about. I read the first few chapters when they went up and then thought better of continuing, but this thread made me curious again so I opened a random chapter (Fanfiction) and it seems to have gone in a different, mildly uncomfortable direction.

DA Our hero, Gary Stu overcomes his ridiculously tragic past to win the grand prize, (Sid's cock) to the applause of the entire team, and it is in no way skeevy that he's 18 and living in Sid's house when this happens.

Re: Fic Discussion

na

Only it manages to also be really, incredibly boring.

Re: Fic Discussion

From: (Anonymous)
How ridiculously tragic are we talking? I actually sort of like badfic as long as it's awful enough, but I don't want to wade through it to find that it's merely poorly written and kind of skeevy instead of truly OTT terrible.

Re: Fic Discussion

I think the author has forgotten the tragedy and is now writing bad sex and a meta chapter giving shout outs to their fav fics.

He has not one but two sets of dead parents, a boyfriend who killed himself (while on the phone to Gary) and was raped.

It is incredible skeevy - the Pens have a group text chat discussing Sid banging Gary.

Re: Fic Discussion

From: (Anonymous)
Wow, that is OTT terrible. I'm not sure it's worth it if the author doesn't wallow in it for all it's worth, though. Thanks for doing the hard part for me anyway.

Re: Fic Discussion

From: (Anonymous)
I could maybe go for the group text chat either as consensual kink or as straight-up dirtybadwrong, but in this context it sounds like it's going to make me cringe at the skeeviness vs. hitting either one of those buttons. Definite pass.

Also, thanks for the heads-up, original nonnie, because I *might* otherwise have given this a shot for similar reasons.
