Logic tells me this should be true.

Actual experiences proved that for males of a certain age laundry is akin to actual rocket science.

I like this progression.

I think people who grow up in households that like, actually separate their laundry think it's more complicated than it is. My family is the "throw it all in and hit the button" sort and my little brother definitely knows how to work the machine (he's 10).

That is super rude, wtf.

I've always found it suspicious that I have yet to see a hockey player in one of these things who had either a completely empty or piled with junk dining room table.

I can't guarantee that, but I suspect it's true about North American vs European washing machines. I got a text message from a friend who was on exchange in Canada from Finland with a photo of the washing machine settings and "Help". And she's been doing her own laundry for like 6 years.

+1 My mom has a complicated system of what kind of laundry needs which specific setting, and I only grew out of my fear of washing machines once I moved out and did everything on my own with a different machine.

I went to look because I was curious, and they're really not that bad. A little cringey, but they're more "Why are you guys making me like Kessel!" than "You should be writing people I like, who are not Kessel."

The badfic spam remains unforgivable.

For the record, the default options I usually the right ones. I've encountered a lot of buttons across many washing/drying machines and have only pressed two buttons (cold water, medium heat). They even have pods of detergent now so you can just throw that in, press start, and run.

I mean, I've definitely seen videos of guys with messy places, if that's what you mean.

I mean, they have warning that cameras are coming. They are capable of cleaning up (or calling someone to clean up) beforehand. In this video, Johnny even said that he knew his mom was going to see it and cleaned accordingly.

What I understood from airt's point is that the Hawks' potential decline isn't a big deal because if they are a last place team next year, they will rebuild. But being a last place team isn't year is far from the worst case scenario, and a lot of the times being in last place comes about as a result of a rebuild, not a cause. I don't know what you mean about The Last Question, I'm just trying to point out that using the Hawks coming in last place as a hypothetical rock bottom is imo off base. And the problem with the Hawks too is that even if they are smart enough to recognize the right time to rebuild, they are in a uniquely difficult position where they might not be able to anyways. It's not as easy as "they will become Bad next year and then they can start to rebuild to become Good again." The years of mediocrity may well continue to hurt their long-term future, in more ways than just not having high draft picks.

Maybe, but I would definitely read fic about the adventures of this hypothetical stager and the items they introduced or removed to players' dwellings before cameras rolled.

*Shudders* Years of unmemorable mediocrity and consistently picking 12-16. I remember it all too well.

Yeah, uh, the only way to rectify that is to get real lucky and draft a superstar in the later rounds.

I don't think that she's being rude, just saying they're making her like Kessel, which doesn't seem rude...Still writes badfic though.

na from the US

Since meme reminded me to start my laundry, I just looked at my washing machine. The 4 dials allow for 2 rinse options, 4 temperature options, 4 water level options, and 4 cycle options. Each cycle option is further subdivided into different amounts of time for washing, and can also be advanced to later stages in the cycle. It also tells you to "push and turn to set. Pull to start. Push to stop."

It's not that hard to figure out once you know the basic process, but much like microwaves, it is a matter of learning the buttons for each machine. You know what you want to do, but it may take a bit to figure out how to get there.

My mom also had a complicated sorting system and a laundry machine with a lot of buttons and settings, so the first time I did my own laundry, I was like, "How do I wash a black and white dress that's 50% cotton and 50% polyester? Do I do a warm wash-cold rinse? Hot-hot? Hot-cold? What is a 'permanent press'? Why does this button have ten different settings? Ahhhh!!"

But what does that have to do with the Pens?

AYRT

I'm fairly sure the original AYRT wasn't saying it wouldn't be a big deal if the Blackhawks sucked and got #1 next year, they were saying shifting around the bottom 3/4ths of their teams in the following decline wouldn't count as rebuilding. They have to start from scratch, in many years after everything good in their system has rotted away. So... I guess you guys are basically saying the same thing? Which is why the arguing confused me.

That's why I'd expect to see a completely empty table. But they always have some kind of artful thing going on.

Not all conversations are about the Pens?? We stopped talking about them several comments ago and they were only involved as someone's example of a way to do the quick rebuild. But if you want to compare to the Pens, this is exactly the cycle of mediocrity the Pens got stuck in, only they managed to contend while they were in it because they had generational talents in Crosby and Malkin, and they only managed to get out of it because they had a new GM willing to make big moves AND they had contracts that permitted those moves. And they got lucky that their middling prospects turned out well and were ready to fill NHL roles at the same time. Matt Murray for example was something like the 13th ranked North American goalie in the 2012 draft class.

lol, I guess they are harder than European washing machines then! Mine has 1 dial and 1 start/stop button!
