Re: General post-SCF thread

But how can unrelated injuries be a trend? If a team is injured a lot one year, they are going to have fewer wins that year, sure. But if at team is injured a lot five years ago, how does that say anything about their chances of winning games now?

The really good years and the really bad shouldn't be smoothed out; those should be considered the significant times for identifying a pattern.

My tables are piled in junk surrounding the art stuff. Clean up the junk and suddenly, artsy tables. But then, I'm also the type of person who has zero bare walls. I even have art in the bathroom.

I'm an American, and my apartment has a laundry closet in the kitchen and it's fine? I mean, it has doors to shut, but it's not a room. It's a closet.

No offense to any of the people mentioned in the thread who are a-okay not bad looking at all, but in terms of head-scratchingly startling coach handsomeness I don't really see it for hockey tbh. There's no Ausmus or (ugh, I suppose) Matheny caliber candidate imo.

There are some college hockey coaches, though.

Look, if you're not arguing about the timing, then why are you putting Cups ---> bad --> rebuild in my mouth and saying you disagree with it when you could just as easily acknowledge mediocrity is often a stop on the way to bad?

Second, there's no such thing as *perpetual* mediocrity. No team goes eight years without either making the playoffs or falling down the standings.

My point is it doesn't matter. Whether they are terrible for the next 8 years or only sort of good or win another cup, eventually they will start rebuilding as all teams do, and unless it takes them more than 30 years, it won't be the least bit remarkable. The Hawks are not special snowflakes of handicappedness.

I've always assumed that for the younger, single guys especially, those are furnished apartments and all the tasteful interior decorating came with the the place.

I think both would be informative, in different ways. Sometimes injuries are totally unrelated from each other, but sometimes they can share related causes (a team systematically overtraining or not following good recovery practices, a player being injury prone). So I think seeing the cumulative data does have value, especially since the chart only records how many games are missed due to injury, but we all know that players also spend plenty of time playing injured, and those injuries affect their performance, too. So I do care to know which teams "tend" to be injured. But I'd also like to see that data with the years separated out and how it corresponds to cup performance by year.

I think you still haven't understood what my point is re: badness versus mediocrity and the Hawks' contract situation, which is maybe my own fault by this point. Maybe the issue is partly that we clearly understood different things by mediocrity. If perpetual mediocrity means eight consecutive years missing the playoffs (in a league where more than half the teams make it) but not falling down the standings, sure, no one does that. I was thinking also of fruitless and inevitable-feeling first-round exits, or like someone else commented, years of unmemorable mediocrity and a 12th to 16th overall first round pick. But we clearly aren't getting anywhere with this, so like I said, let's just agree to disagree.

Yeah I know some people who having the hook ups and space for a first floor laundry was a selling point for their home.

If you're into Sullivan, I think you'd like BU's coach David Quinn.

Ha, I was just thinking that earlier! They're practically clones.

My mind went to Sullivan/Quinn just now. Why brain.

Speaking of authors who update on just the wrong side of annoying, I wish somethingnerdythiswaycomes was just a little bit better. They're nowhere near as bad, but... :/

Re: General post-SCF thread

They're both coaches with connections to BU, ships have been built on less.

Re: General post-SCF thread

Shit they have that same deep voice too..

Re: Fandom Venting

They've gotten way better recently, IMO.

Yeah, he's got all the perks of the bad boy attitude, apparently without *actually* being an asshole.

All my Jon Cooper could get it feelings stem from how much he loved his team last year, tbh. He's totally okay looking, but I wouldn't go putting a poster on my wall.

Did I miss what's up with Rust's hand? I tried googling, and got like 98% playoff commentary with the phrase "on the other hand" and gave up.

I ship it now.

Or think that BU has some secret hookup on a cloning place. Maybe both.

If their eliteprospects pages are correct, then they were teammates at BU during the 1986-87 season.
