#24 – Not Sure If Serious or Playing Dumba

This is the twenty-fourth post of Deke Dangle RPF Anon, a community for all your ice hockey anon meme needs.

Surely only if you know what the actual game/box score would have been? If I read a Flyers fic set five years ago, the chances I will know the difference (outside of certain playoffs series) are absolutely nil.

You have a point. This one sticks in my craw because it's set in the latest season where 1) one team swept the season series against the other 2) guess which team lost in the fic? and 3) it's my team. This is contributing to me reading less fic for my team, which I will have to deal with.

Okay, maybe there's a fourth reason: 4) name dropping the opposing team which leads to 1) & 2) where I will definitely pettily go "East Coast Bias"

It just seems unnecessary to me most of the time. It's not hard to look up scores, and you can usually find something that fits whatever narrative.

I don't need to read about a blowout loss to the Caps or Pens when we didn't have any while we sure as hell lost badly to other teams.
