Yes. Obviously. No one is arguing that Matt Strome ACTUALLY thinks his big brother is fucking Mitch Marner. But the implication is always sexual or romantic, even if used in a completely joking way, just like most of the gay jokes these guys regularly spout. I can't believe this is an argument.

ayrt: not in my experience where it's way more often than not just another way to say, hey you two, you're getting way to caught up in your own conversation about something no one else here cares for, and it's cute but we still exist, no sexual or romantic implications at all?

Thanks for the anecdote, but, assuming you're not just missing the subtext, that is still not the common usage.

Well what I meant is, that in my experience, the joking type of usage is way more common than the one that actually insinuates sexual/romantic attraction, and my main takeaway here is that it obviously does vastly differ between different groups of people.

Again, your experience has given you a skewed view of what the vast majority of people mean, which is presumably why are there are only two confused OEAs in this thread while everyone else it pretty solid with the possibility of jokes and the insinuation of sexual or romantic attraction co-existing.

There is an entire subthread basically calling what you're disagreeing with so obvious and unnecessary that saying it was condescending, so you might want to dial down the aggro claims that everyone agrees with you except two confused anons.

I'm sorry I was wrong, then, and tried to argue a stupid point.

NA

In room by yourselves you can fuck. That's why joke is.

Yet another NA here, and I have literally never, in my long-for-fandom life, heard someone say "get a room" as "take your exclusive, platonic conversation away from us"

I am 99.9% sure that everyone that nonny has said has used in a platonic manner actually meant it with the common connotation as a joke---but that nonny did not pick up on it.

That nonny: you're probably absolutely right, again sorry for arguing a stupid point. I'm just not the brightest person and should know better by now /not meant to be taken in a passive aggressive way, it's just true. Sorry :/

I have, but the joke still rested on the romantic/sexual connotation and the people involved all reacted to that connotation.
