#24 – Not Sure If Serious or Playing Dumba

I thought you added people to WhatsApp by phone number? Like you put them in your regular contacts and then add them on WhatsApp? I have a bunch of my international friends added and we def needed to exchange phone numbers first to make that happen, international area codes and all.

(not doubting you, I just didn't know there was a way around this)

It's kinda weird. Like twitter, there was once a time you didn't need a #, and it's not universal yet.

Chicago nonnie again. Admittedly, I don't know anything about WhatsApp. It came up because her friend jokingly asked, "So do you have his number?" and then she responded with the WhatsApp thing... I could be mistaken and she just said the word "app" (is there another app that allows you to communicate without a number?) and I incorrectly put two and two together. Or maybe she does have his number and just wanted to avoid talking about it with her friend. I'll never know now.

Chicago nonnie again again. I don't know if anyone cares that much, but she also described him as a "very polite young man" (she was 45-50ish) who "knows the value of a dollar." I'm not sure what that means when you have millions of dollars, but that's what she said.

Well, it'd make sense if he used WhatsApp in general, since it's an easy way to communicate internationally without additional fees or hassles and one of the easiest ways to have group chats that include both iphones and Android phones, but she may still have been deflecting.

I know that for groupme, I managed to set it up using the phone number assigned to my tablet, which otherwise just goes to the void, because I could confirm registration via email/web.
