I read it. I like it. It's the kind of spurious heist fic I eat up with a spoon. I am slightly sad that Alex DeBrincat has a misspelled tag.

How did he end up with Alex Brindecat??

Maybe too much hanging out with Leo de Chase.

Obviously Alex Brindecat and Leo de Chase are the super stealth secret identities that they use for their side job as vigilante crime fighters.

I'd also read the version where those are their cam boy handles.

Ohhhhh.

I also like how it implies that they're terrible at coming up with pseudonyms

Steve Dangle accidentally calls him that all the time on his podcast, because apparently that's the name of a Pokemon? Maybe the author has the same trouble.

Until this thread, I thought that was his name because of the podcast. /o\

It does sound like it could a pokemon

It's misspelled in the entire fic :( ensemble AUs like this can be so fun, if the author actually bothers to learn anything about the people that they choose to throw in there. Some parts of this were so cute but everybody seemed either personality-less or slightly OOC and it threw me off.

Oh yikes. I could maybe understand if they didn't want to go digging around too much for characterisation (I think nonnies have said before they feel it's stalkerish with young players?), but spelling names right should still be like, courtesy or something lol.

ayrt
Yeah, to be totally fair I don't know a ton about some of these guys either (including "Brindecat" which my phone just tried to autocorrect to "bro decaf"). But the spelling problem+the flatness of most of them combined together just made a of of the characters seem unnecessary to the basic plot. Even Ekblad was pretty non-descript and learning more about him doesn't require social media stalking a kid like it would for Bro Decaf.

(Anonymous) 2016-05-25 06:59 pm (UTC)(link)
Well, I'll be calling him "Bro Decaf" from now on.

(Anonymous) 2016-05-25 08:35 pm (UTC)(link)
Well, to be fair, the author did use 'Brinksy' (is this his real nickname?) for 99% of the fic.

Yeah but any time his real name was used it was Brindecat, and it was tagged that way. She just straight up doesn't know what his name is.

That's the sad part :c.

da

I thought about it but I wouldn't want to leave a comment with just that and I haven't read the fic yet...

My spellingandgrammarmatter sock would. But it only exists in my dreams because I can't bring myself to actually create it.

The first time I saw it I thought it was intentional, like someone jokingly calling him by a mangled version of his last name -- and then I saw the tag and was like whoops, accidentally gave you too much credit.
