LOL, same. I understand the starring-out is a courtesy (or attempt to avoid backlash/wank) since tumblr fucked up its search and now it searches content as well as tags, but I wish anti-tags were more standardized. "Reminder that I don't like X" or "cw X" or whatever is not helpful! Just put the person's name followed by "for ts" or something!

These are friends, right? Not just random Tumblrs that you then ask to please tag stuff for you? Because that'd be pretty rude.

Tumblr etiquette can be kind of weird, but I always thought it wasn't rude to just ask someone to tag stuff for you even if you're not mutuals. I'm not offended if anyone asks me to tag shit, anyway. It's just not required for you to tag stuff for anyone else, and they're rude if they get mad at you for not doing it.

Asking people to tag things on Tumblr is pretty common. A lot of people prefer for people to ask for a tag instead of that sweet, sweet follower count go down.

I have this problem with pens vs penguins ("pens" is too general ends up blacklisting non-hockey related things on my dash, whereas "penguins" is pretty definitively just the team) but I've just accepted it and surrendered to the void at this point.

You mean tagging the team name with an asterisk? They don't do it because the name is a "problem" (although actually with that particular team the name itself is one of the problems of the organization), they do it in order to not show up in searches so they can rant about the Hawks or whoever without getting blowback or wank from fans.

I'm confused...tagging teams you don't like in that manner (H*wks, Pr*ds, whatever) is a super common practice to make sure you don't end up in that team's tags but also so that people who follow you don't have to see it if they choose to blacklist it. People have been doing it for ages, though they do it a little differently now that tumblr's fucked up their own search function. Not sure why you think that means they need a new fandom.

one of the people i follow has "bossy ice nerd" as their crosby tag. (i tag "player name for ts", personally).

I was so disappointed when I realized that that was not in fact an anagram of his name. He doesn't have enough y's. :(

The actual anagram is "bossy icy nerd".
