Does anyone know of a way to watch the games at a delay? I've been watching them via NBC, but unfortunately I won't be able to catch any of the upcoming games live, and it looks like NBC doesn't keep most games after they're done. I was considering getting NHL.tv, but I think I'm technically going to be "in-market" for the SCF, so I'd be watching at a 48 hour delay at absolute best. Are there any other methods that nonnies know about? I don't mind paying/going through hoops to do it legally, but I'll accept less legitimate methods too.

Sorry if this is a repeat, but it looks like most of the old answers to this question (like gamevault) are no longer around or usable. :/

The delay on the last series of games seems to only last until the next morning, although during the regular season it was a very strict 48 hours. You can also get a free vpn to select the game after you log in to watch live.

There is no blackout period in Germany (and probably lots of other non NA countries) for watching the games live/delayed with nhl.tv, so using a vpn that allows you to select that location should work hopefully?

Oh, I didn't know this! That changes things considerably. Is it "next morning" by NHL time zones or next morning by whatever time zone you/your VPN is in?

Next morning, Central time. I VPN myself to Hong Kong when I'm watching live.

That's great! I was thinking I'd probably be watching the games at a 10-hour delay or so anyway, so that works out. Thank you, nonny. If the other tool doesn't work, I guess I'm going to finally give the NHL some money, poor quality or no.

IME, the quality problems are due to really needing a wired connection to stream it at the quality it wants to be. I gave up and paid them a couple of weeks after HS went down and none of the alternatives were doing it for me. It may work even better with a paid VPN? I have a standard cable connection and then cast it to my tv, which may cause further lags.

That reddit tool a nonny linked a while ago lets you watch all games whenever, but I'm not sure it's working anymore since I bought nhl.tv and watch the playoffs there (in TERRIBLE quality lol)

https://www.reddit.com/r/nhl_games

Sorry if you already tried that one!

Nonny who rec'd it:
Last I checked it still worked, and the creator had solved the multi-OT cut-off problem

I've tried that before, though it had issues with my computer. It's been a while, though, so I think I'll give it a shot again. Thank you!

Is NHL.tv really bad? :/ I heard complaints about it, but not for a while, so I had hoped they'd smoothed things out.

It works okay on my phone if I do absolutely NOTHING else and my computer is turned off, but it looks terrible on my computer and you can forget loading any site while watching, it makes the quality so awful that you can't even read the score anymore, 166p or worse. :/ It's so frustating because that reddit tool streamed everything crystal clear for me lol. This is what I get for trying to watch legally!

It works better for me now after the switch (apart from some weird log in issues early on,but no more random potato quality feed multiple times a game), but at times it has it's hiccups and will show the same three seconds multiple times in a row.

I could have sworn I commented about this, but now I can't find it to fact-check myself.

I was surprised, earlier in the playoffs, to find that a whole game was available in nvl.tv as soon as it was over. HOWEVER, since I can't find the comment now, I can't tell you whether that was a national game in the first or second round, or one I was in market for during the first round.

I decided to go with NHL.tv and the last Pens/Lightning game was available right after I purchased it, which was maybe 4 hours after it ended? Just if anyone else is considering it, I think the offseason package rules are different from the regular season package rules.
