For those in the favorite teams thread, I'm intrigued by the individual players on other teams you love and those you hate. Who you got for each?

I love Johnny Gaudreau but not enough to be a Flames fan, and Martin Jones but not enough to be a Sharks fan (I'm firmly on the bandwagon tho). I like Subban a lot but hate the Habs.

I don't particularly care about the Flyers, but I really like Giroux. Although I've kind of grown fond of them this season and now there's almost enough of them to justify liking the Flyers, Raffl, Ghost... I just wish they'd get rid of some of their, err, less fair players.

A lot of the guys I love used to play for my team, but aside from those:

Flyers - Voracek, Giroux, Simmonds, and Gostisbehere
Lightning - Bishop, Hedman, and the triplets
Sharks - Vlasic, Hertl, Burns (although I kind of hate Burns when my team plays the Sharks, lol)
Jets - Trouba, Pavelec
CBJ - Seth Jones, Atkinson
Hawks - Panarin, Hjalmarsson
Stars - Oduya, Klingberg

I like Wayne Simmonds but am definitely not a Flyers fan. Same with Joel Ward, both as a Cap and as a Shark. I guess I like Marchand in the sense that I would like him if he were on my team, but I also have respect for him as a shit-disturber.

On my 'fond' list is all the Danes; a bunch of goalies; Subban, Gallagher and actually a lot of the Habs from watching their media stuff; PEB; Jagr; and some of the young Swedes and Finns.

On my 'love to hate' list is Backes and Marchand. On my 'genuinely wish you'd disappear forever' list is Kane, Shaw and Perry.

Oh my god, I agree about Clutterbuck! The only reason I have is that whenever a team I like plays the Islanders Clutterbuck plays really well and the announcers keep talking about it and I go "fucking Clutterbuck AGAIN!!!! Ruining things by playing well!!!!". Part of this is probably because his name is so memorable to me, lol.

Backes (not the same conference, so animal love sways me. plus i hate the Hawks and my first playoffs involved "Wakey, wakey, Backes.")

Stamkos (100% because of the figure-skating commercial)
Joel Ward still has my love
Joey Hishon. Not even an NHL player, but it's hard not to feel bad for that guy.

I don't think I've seen the Stamkos figure-skating commercial. (Or I've seen it and forgotten it.) Does anyone have a link? Google isn't turning up anything for me.

The players I like are either weirdly charming, were traded from my team, or have been done wrong in some way. The players I dislike are mostly because of their play or because I don't like their face, possibly through no fault of their own.

Also, can we add coaches? Because I have personal grudges against Torts, Trotz, and Vigneault, and Roy and Therrien seem like total jerks in general, even outside Roy's DV charges.

I have faves all over, but one of the reasons I like so many players is that I automatically like players who went to 1.) my undergrad university, 2.) my grad school university, or 3.) the university I almost went to (and that one of my closest friends went to). I'm also fond of anyone who grew up in my home state or the state in which I'm currently living. All of this means that I have a LOT of (mostly American) faves scattered all over the league, even on teams I dislike.
