Well in hindsight we can say this, but the one decision that I remember that you might be referring to is the Zimmermann pull? Based on times through the order and etc, it was the right decision in my opinion. It had a bad outcome, but it was the right decision.

Or was there other bullpen silliness? I can't remember.

More relevant to the wider discussion, I follow some Bay Area sports twitters because of the Giants but I don't care about the GSW and I did find their comeback really obnoxious. That's on me though.

Irrationally. But batshit nevertheless.

I feel like NBA in general is more bandwagon prone, like I know more people who are "fans of the league" then in like baseball or hockey.

Maybe it's the difference in star power? Much easier to follow a player who can subsequently power a team to a championship mostly by himself.

Eh, Williams just kind of felt...absent, that whole series. There was also that stuff in game 4 where he went to his usual 7th inning guy instead of someone better, and never considered bringing in Strasburg. The Nats had better pitching and probably a better lineup and I was shocked when the Giants won, game 2 notwithstanding,

I am rooting for the Dubs but would never call myself a fan. I've been rolling my eyes at the shirts and car flags that are ubiquitous around here the last year. It's bandwagonism and race/class issues at their worst.

Hey, I really think there's more than one of us here. Two! Possibly even 2.5, when you consider people who have the Nats as their NL team and are more AL fans.

The offense, Harper excepted, was pretty dead that whole series, despite being much better on paper. I think some of it had to do with the scheduling - both WC teams made it to the World Series, and a lot of teams that clenched early were eliminated early because they basically iced the teams for several days prior to the playoffs starting, which after clenching early meant they hadn't played any real baseball in a couple of weeks, and had had a scrimmage the day before where it was clear they were already rusty. I think a lot of other teams fell to a similar fate.

Some of it was the Giants knowing how to play in the post-season, whereas the Nats had one pretty spectacularly bad post season series (oh, let's not talk about Game 5 of NLDS 2015) in their (non-Expos) franchise history, and some of it was poor bullpen management from a manager who was, surprise, fired the next year for ludicrously bad bullpen management.

So, a mix of shitty things and the only thing I can remember other than that 19-inning game was Harper trying to hit it out of the park in SF. Oh, and taking creep shots of Tim Lincecum sitting in the visitors' bullpen for a friend. He spits constantly even for a ball player.

I ... didn't do fantasy last winter, so I'm not sure who you're thinking of. The friend is no longer in hockey (or any AFAIK) fandom, so maybe we're thinking of the same person. I can code their user name in baseball stats if that helps, lol.

It probably is the same person, though, if she has a new superstar fave in hockey who you likely hate.

That reminds me, didn't he hit it out of the park? At least, it feels like he hit approx. 50+ homeruns off Strickland. Maybe that wasn't at SF though.
