#24 – Not Sure If Serious or Playing Dumba

So, at first I didn't want to blame the person who posted the original photoset but then I went and tracked down the original combine headshots.

His skin isn't that much lighter but it is still lighter and like. The background is ridiculously different. Yeah, in the original his background is a little lighter than the picture before his in the getty gallery (William Bitten's.) but it's not fucking sky blue.

They're all adjusted, his is just the worst and most obvious with added implications.

To me it looks like more than lighten his skin tone overall, they've just brightened everything to highlight his features better, at the expense of uniformity of background.

Yeah, cameras are racist and not that great at picking up details on darker people. It's a delicate business, but I don't really see the editor trying to make him lighter (unlike that one awful edit of PK Subban pyatts did).

On a separate and arguably less serious vent, I really wish the gif makers of fandom would lay off the brightening slider in general. Like, I saw the original video, it's not like they have to cover up low definition. They are, however, succeeding in making their white subject fade into the white background.
