One's more famous than the other maybe?

Age difference and creepy hero worship?

I though it was a butt thing.

Nick Cannon was in love with Miriah Carey when he was a kid (posters on his wall style) and then married her later. Maybe Tom Cruise/Katie Holmes is another similar comparison if you do your best to forget the fact that Katie was prob paid to be married to creepster Tom Cruise.

Hero worship transforming to actual relationship weirds me out personally.

Ok, then you were the one who replied to me first, while I was replying to that comment. So I'm not sure how else I was supposed to interpret that, other than assuming your reply to me was meant to address the point I was making (which was that the lack of for Sid/Claude suggests that more is going on with the hate of Sid/Nate than just the OTP getting broken up). I don't see why I need to repeat what I've already said in other comments when you're asking a question that already has answers upthread.

I love you nonnie.

This is why Crosby/MacKinnon (and Duchene/Roy) skeeves me out and I will never ship them.

Bingo.

Yeah sorry, that sounded tinhatty. I mean there's more "canon" material due to the fact that they actually hang out together, as opposed to Sid and Geno who seem like work husbands and nothing more. For people who imagine that Sid and Geno are IRL bffs and need that to fuel their ship, the reality of Sid and Nate being bffs is probably jarring and unpleasant.

Yeah, I was responding to the airt who said that that's "quite the hill you've chosen." The person who made that remark said Murray was "arguably" the worst of the three and it is actually quite arguable.

It's cool! I figured that's what you meant but I wanted to be sure.

I feel like a lot of earlier Sid/Geno stuff leaned heavily on the idea that they hung out a lot, whereas the newer stuff doesn't. Actually, I could say that for a few different tropes that used to show up a lot in Sid/Geno stuff without much basis in reality. I wonder if that's a cause or effect of there being less fic.

Duchene/Roy works for me in a power struggle/dirtyhotwrongness kind of way. But yea. The hero worship/teen crush becoming reality doesn't work for me.

Thanks for the explanation. I'd vaguely heard of Nick Cannon but didn't actually know any of this about them.

I feel like (but am too lazy to google) that there were also some really skeevy interviews that he did after he started dating her about how much he loved her when he was young.

Re: Fandom Venting

I'd settle for footage of him exercising in high heels.

He's played like 30 NHL games. I'm super against giving the captaincy to the guy with the most talent.

Re: World Cup of Hockey

From: (Anonymous)
I mean, some of his managerial decisions are really heading that way. And Cam Talbot is not going to be Tim Thomas.

I see the logic behind it if it's a team preparing a franchise player for a role he will hold on the team for a long time, while other players come and go. I can't see any rationale for it in a tournament like this, except as a marketing ploy. I honestly expected them to give McDavid an A and have a more experienced player with the C. I wonder if Saad would have gotten it if he were Canadian.

I agree about older Sid/Geno, and I think I remember oflights being one of the first writers to move away from the idea that they hung out a lot. My favorite part of her fics was how well she drew the Penguins cliques and it made their relationship development more satisfying to me.

I think that shift was just a result of people becoming more familiar with Penguins team dynamics as opposed to feeding on the fanon established by Blackhawks fans.

To clarify, I see the logic if it's an NHL team, not a team with a roster that will only exist for one tournament and then be selected again four years later.

TNA needs to practice their passing. That was atrocious.

Re: World Cup of Hockey

From: (Anonymous)
Someone on twitter made a point about Saad having almost twice as many playoff games as McDavid has NHL games.

Nonny, this is an anonmeme. I don't have any way of knowing who you are or what other comments you've made in other places, especially if someone is not using identifiers. If you don't want to answer further, then ... don't.

Re: Fandom Venting

From: (Anonymous)
I always figured the skeeviness was a feature of Duchene/Roy and not a bug.

Lucic signing aside, they still have some work to do before they can attract free agents or trade for players with limited NTCs. I remember seeing they basically had to give up trying for Shattenkirk because they knew he wouldn't re-sign there. They're going to get better, but I think it will be a while before Chia can make them a reliably good team.
