I really liked her homeless!Tyler verse, too. Didn't she also do a K/T D/s trope subversion fic? I seem to recall that she did and that I liked it, but I think she pulled it.

It's kind of a weird combination because McLellan is heavily favoring his own star player (which is an asshole move) even when it doesn't make the most sense and is not backed up by numbers, which is probably at least partially caused by the intangibles which leak from every pore of Mr. Youngest Captain Ever.

I think it's mostly just McLellan being blinded by McJesus, though.

She put it back up with different characters. I didn't really like it, though. Lots of other people do, but I feel like it was kinda over-hyped.

You both raise a really good point. Last year, we had such a long lead time to allow a lot of people who were totally unfamiliar with fantasy sports to get to understand the whole system before deciding if they wanted to jump in. (Not to mention that I needed a lot of time to figure out how to run three mostly anonymous fantasy leagues. :) )

Given that a lot of meme is already signed up, and I have gotten a nice-sized group of new folks signing up already, maybe we don't really need that long before locking the leagues and getting our draft order?

It is just now midnight heading into Tuesday, Sept. 20th (NA EDT). Would this Saturday (24) or Sunday (25) be too soon to lock the leagues and get our draft order? That gives at least 10 days of list setting while knowing draft order for all GMs.

I'm still eyeing Wed, Oct 5th as the date for declaring we are ready to draft (either noon or midnight, NA EDT, which are the best times for me to do it).

Does that work better for those who are familiar with the system? Does that leave enough time for signups? I'll go check how many folks we have now and come back with a status report on that in a few...

I wouldn't be surprised if the NHL also wanted McDavid featured. They seem heavily invested in the "next one" narrative.

The ET video is shipper gold. The way Johnny puts his hands on Reilly... mmhmm. Also I feel like Larkin and RNH are a weirdly fitting pair. Their faces are similar and they both seem super low key.

Also is Reilly always so talkative like that? He kind of reminds me of PK Subban.

This is why I want him to fall flat on his face. The league would deserve that.

At least this is all proof the Oilers will be trash again this year. That coaching, woof.

McDavid actually shot a lot less per game than Eichel, Larkin, Panarin last season too. A lot of guys in this tournament are shooting the puck.

As a fan of the Flames, this shit will be hilarious when it's Lucic and Maroon on the ice.

(Assuming Gaudreau gets signed, that is.)

What numbers? I'm seeing that the first line + RNH are the only NA forwards with >50 score-adj SF%.

NA, but would you be willing to share where you got those stats? I'm dying over here with the barebone box scores.

(Also this isn't to say that people shouldn't question the decision to shorten the bench -- Matthews and McDavid are young guys, with very little NHL experience, playing back to back, and the team is stacked with talent. But I haven't seen stats yet that bear out that another line was more effective.)

I feel bad because I think he won't be able to lead up to the level of hype heaped on him.

That being said, I don't think he should be excused from critical analyses of his play because of the hype.

The whole team played better in the third, though - Larkin was benched when none of them were, so we don't know if he would have had the chance to be better.

IA. The hype is so huge though. So many people expect him to win the Art Ross next year. He could, but I don't think he will. But so what if he doesn't. He's got nearly a decade before he's even considered in his prime.

Everyone just wants it for him so badly. I think it'd just be better for him if they just gave him regular hockey player chances instead of "It's okay, you're so great, buddy" ones.

Thanks! That's much more info than I had before.

Also, ouch, that graph seems to be suggesting Eichel should have been benched over Drouin. I thought he looked a little rough during the second period, but not worse than anyone else.

Something about the way Johnny curls his fist and Rielly tucks his chin... Why isn't anyone writing Rielly following Johnny around giving him shit all the time because he doesn't know about anything but hockey despite the fact he went to college?

If you told me to bet on who would win the Art Ross next year, I'm betting Crosby, hands down. I'm not even sure McDavid ends up top five in scoring.

The amount of comments I've seen about him being the best player in the league season is ridiculous. And even if he was the best Team NA forward, his linemates on the Oilers won't be as good, or as fast.

This is score-adjusted and even strength, though, he looked better on the PP. I'm not sure how many minutes he got EV.

Wonder if the two big hits took a while to shake off, too.

Eyeballing @IneffectiveMath's player usage chart, Eichel got very little EV time, less than anyone except Larkin. He played around 14 minutes, of which it looks like ~8 were EV and ~6 were PP.

He tucks his chin just enough that their mouths are perfectly level. Just. Why. I don't need this in my life.

I'd suspect most of those EV minutes were from the first two periods. I believe after the second Ghost was the only player with a positive 5v5 Corsi, though I can't find the tweet.

I think Eichel also had a long shift when Gibson was pulled.
