Yeah I'm excited for PK but I'm already tired of all the "THIS will get people in Nashville excited" stuff as if it's still early Trotz-era Preds and there's no exciting players already on the team.

But I guess it's not everyone, some of the writers do have more nuance with how they talk about his stardom.

It's from Mikey's POV. But I think a long fic by a popular writer will serve as an intro to more people than that fic, which is a bit unfortunate considering the characterization appears to be pulled out of the author's ass.

Same here. I'm sure there are ways it could be interesting (there was a McDavid/Strome I remember liking a while back) but so far it isn't been and the relationships aren't built well by the authors writing them.

Someone vague blogged mean things about a fic and I'm almost positive that it was mine. I wouldn't even mind that much if it was but the uncertainty is killing meeeeeeeeeeee.

I feel like I hate her writing disproportionately because it reminds me of what my writing would be like if I gave into every bad habit or whim. It's like my own darkest timeline playing out in front of me. It strengthens my resolve, at least.

I really liked this fic! I enjoyed the conflict and I always love ldr fic, so that was a bonus, too.

I told myself last year I'd just be happy if no one got arrested and we made the playoffs, so I can't really complain about this season, but I do want to dream a little bigger now.

2) Dustin Brown has a rebound season where he at least does okay

He's been doing okay, already. His points per 60 has been almost bizarrely consistent over the last four years. Even this year when his goal-scoring went down, his assists were way up. The problem is that he's 6th/7th on the team and playing on the third line, but he's the second highest paid forward on the team. I'd love to see him be a legit top six forward again, though.

Regarding #4, I like Gravel better than Forbort. Maybe Forbort just needs to play a lot of games at the NHL level to get game up to par (it worked for McNabb, after all), but I don't see the point in trying to bring them both along when we only need one. (Well, I take that back. If — if they are planning to protect Martinez and expose McNabb, then I could see why we need both of them.) My big concern with how Sutter treats "rookies" is actually with Tanner Pearson's usage this season.

5) I hope one of them goes to the Vegas team, and not even to help our cap situation, but because I think a) Brown would be a great captain for the Vegas team and b) Gaborik would be a great mentor for the Vegas team's first draft pick. He always gets along well with the young guys whatever team he's on, and he's uniquely qualified to understand what it's like to be the rookie among a bunch of expansion rejects.

6) I've been wondering if he starts hanging out with Alec Martinez all the time in a shippy way would Martinez/Zatkoff & Wilson/Latta shippers be disappointed or just roll with it?

7) Kopitar for Art Ross!

I always want the Hart to go to someone who's never won it before.

The Senators trade Zibanejad and a 2nd to the Rangers for Brassard and a 7th. Terrible overpayment for the Sens IMO, and possibly motivated by salary/RFA concerns again.

This team is frustrating me so much.

Why does it bother some of meme so much when people do kickstarters/Patreon? People who actually like their work can support it. No one's forcing you to donate.

Being a Sens fan sounds like literal torture, but I can't imagine how it must feel to play for that team.

DA but what "work"? She posts barely coherent add-ons to Tumblr text posts, tweets nonsensical things about a sport she barely watches, and blogs on what looks like a 2006 era Livejournal. Loads of people do that without getting...*checks* $90 a month for it lmao.

I...this trade makes no sense to me.

I don't think it's a knock on the players already on the team. Subban's one of the most exciting players in the entire NHL.

And Shea Weber has a batshit crazy-awesome slapshot but is generally known as the most boring NHL player on earth.

Ottawa is just kind of a weird team to me. I get that they can't spend to the cap, but it doesn't seem like they are really being savvy enough to make up for it.

Yeah in this case I think she expects people to pay her for the privilege of experiencing her fun and quirky personality, which is kind of bs to me. It's different when the person is actually making something, even if I'm not a fan of whatever that thing is.

WTH. It would be an overpayment without the picks even. The picks make it way worse for the Sens.

And also, I guess the Rangers are going to do their best to wedge that playoff window open.

I think every time Wysh mentions Weber he complains about how interviewing him is like talking to drywall. Still plenty torn up about this trade.

*sigh* I was really hoping the Rangers were going to further blow the doors off the NHL and trade Lundquivst to the Stars.

Dude, it's a venting thread, I vented and I'm over it. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

ayrt It's honestly not that great an excuse. I mean, look at how well the Ducks are doing in comparison.

The team is pretty strong at drafting, so they get mediocre by taking advantage of ELC/RFA contracts, ensuring they never get great draft picks. Then they get cheap in all the wrong ways until it fucks them over because they're terrible at trades. See Alfie leaving because management went back in their word to pay him, the Spezza "oops we can't pay you and now it's too late to get good value" trade, the Bobby Ryan "we just got dumped so we're rebounding hard and throwing money at the first big name player to show us positive attention" trade/contract extension, the whole Hoffman arbitration debacle...

Having a bad owner is the worst, because with bad management you can at least hope for them to get fired.
