I liked it. I didn't feel like it was very hockeybot-ish - it was mentioned a few times that hockey came first for Sid, but that was basically it as far as I could tell.
The only problem I really had was with the epilogue. I liked the sadness and the friction, how thoroughly Nate wanted something that Sid couldn't give him and how broken up he was over it. But for Sid to show up on Nate's doorstep some number of years later and for Nate to just accept it was unsatisfying. I could've bought it with more work, but it's frustrating in its current form.
