Re: Let's Name the Las Vegas Team

I really hope those teams cling to their trademarks. I really irrationally but utterly hate the name Knights and especially Black Knights. And apparently they're too picky to go for Silver Knights? So maybe then it'll be something different after all. 🙏

Your feelings are my feelings. I think the Las Vegas Knights is a TERRIBLE name and I really hope they can't use it.

NA

I can't speak for Army West Point athletics or the baseball team but I really can't see the London Knights being willing to budge at all on trademarks.

Is it really a London Knights issue? It was 20 years ago but the Atlanta minor league team before the Thrashers was called the Knights, so I hadn't thought the OHL team would be blocking all hockey use of the name.

Logo wise, maybe?

I genuinely don't know, I mentioned them because the linked article did. None of the other articles I've looked at about the naming issue bring up the London Knights when they suggest that the name is probably going to end up being Knights.

Just for fun, here's the London Knights' entry in the Canadian trademark database, in case there is anyone who knows more about trademarks who wants to take a look.

... collectible milk caps; belts, buckles, pens, coasters, cutlery, coins, collectors albums and boards, binoculars, paper weights, cookbooks, hockey stick racks, picture frames, neck warmers, oil dip stick cleaners ...

This list is hilarious.

I got the sense from the article that the issue wasn't whether the LondonKnights would share with the Vegas team. But that the NHL merchandiser didn't want to share with the LondonKnights. So, if London wouldn't give it up, Adidas or whoever wanted a different name chosen.

why did you stop copying it there, you missed my favourite part!

toiletries, namely, soap, soap dishes, shampoo and face cloths.

😂

Maybe Reebok/Adidas don't like the name either. I don't think a lot of people do, really.

Because when I think hockey teams, I think cookbooks.

...also, people collect milk caps?

Re: Let's Name the Las Vegas Team

Well, the Capitals already made two. Cookbooks that is.

All I can guess is that's an alternate name for pogs.
