Yay, Sid/Claude longfic! I'm a few thousand words in, and it's good so far. Though I feel like I can tell it's a collab. I've never tried writing with another fandom friend. I'd worry about the differences in voice, and I just don't think I'd be able to relinquish control like that.

But, if they can pull it off, I will be Impressed.

I haven't read this all the way through yet, but I did take a peak at the notes (because I'm weird and like reading them if they don't look spoiler-y) and I was shocked that the one writer who I know is a big Flyers fan doesn't know that Claude Giroux is definitely a grace-saying, cross-wearing, good little Catholic boy. I guess that gets less talked about as the years go on though.

Anyway, I like it so far! I'm glad to have a Sid/Claude fic that features more of the Flyers crew, especially Wayne.

I don't know about it French, but in English, Catholic grace before meals isn't really an indication of actual religiosity. You just mumble the same prayer every time very quickly in a group so that all the words bleed together and then immediately start eating.

I mean, it's to the point that if I had to actually tell you the words of the prayer, I'm not entirely sure I could. It's one of those things I only really have memorized when said rotely in a group.

Fair enough! I was just giving a random example of it I remembered, I suppose the most important thing is that he likes to at least identify as Catholic and claim he goes to church.

That's a pretty broad brush you're painting with. In my family, saying grace would be considered very ostentatiously religious. We usually only do it on big holidays.

Raised Lutheran, never go to church when I'm not visiting but still sort of believe. My parents are pretty involved with their church, and the three of us have a family grace. When we used to do the big mom's side get-together a different adult would have to come up with a brief prayer before meals on the spot. Basically it's almost a good manners thing imo.

Is it just me or is this showing up as only one author now?

Anyways, I really liked this. I kind of wanted a bit of a resolution to their relationship other than Claude realizing he loves him and then not saying anything? But I usually can't read Crosby fic and I read/enjoyed this one.
