At what point of degree separation would you cut off being part of hockey rpf fandom? (I mean. My interest had been waning and the further decreasing degree of separation is making me seriously think.)

As soon as I quit reading fic, I'd say I'm gone.

You cut it off when you don't enjoy it and you have something you enjoy more, like leaving any fandom.

I don't read fic about guys who live within a ten mile radius of me because I dislike the thought of, lile, eating pancakes or getting groceries in the same place as dudes I've read about. If I ever got past acquaintanceship anybody in the hockey world I'd probably peace out completely, because of how (figuratively) incestuous the hockey world is and using fic as a form of vicarious living wouldn't be necessary anymore.

I don't know if I'd necessarily stop reading all fic if I got to know a player, particularly if they were just a prospect, but it would depend. I certainly wouldn't be able to read about that person. But every time I've tried to set boundaries for myself because of what I thought were too few degrees of separation (geographic proximity to them or their relatives), I inevitably wind up breaking them, so. *shrug* I just make sure I'm not looking at anything incriminating if I'm in a place where they or someone they know is likely to be and my screen is visible to others.

Huh, I never could put up geo-barriers (...because I live in an NHL city and take the rail to games).
