Re: Fandom Venting

I don't think it's that fandom is prone to confusing fic with reality/tinhattting, it's that this particular fic (I gather from this thread) plays into a tinhat theory that already exists widely among a certain group of fans. I can't judge the author's mindset, but it wouldn't surprise me if anon who said the author kinda meant it to be a little bit of a "thesis statement" was right, either.

I guess I just don't understand what the point is of writing "Seguin is gay: the thesis" when it's been done so many times before (and by better writers, tbqh) and it's kind of old news at this point. How long has it been since that tweet/trade? I don't get why the comments are acting like linsky is vocalizing their long-held secret conspiracy theory when that territory is so well-trod.

NA

For the sweet, sweet kudos from the true believers and the nice warm validation of having other people share your pet theory. And the commenters get that validation too, from both the fic and each other.

Noobs.

I mean, all of those other fics were written a couple of years ago, some even nearly three years ago, now. People could legit not know they exist, if they haven't read back that far in the tag. Although, that doesn't really explain the author herself, who I know has been around awhile.
