I was on the "this is stupid, but at least it seems fun" camp until today. Now that Seguin apparently injured his knee in the last game, I totally agree with you.

I know the NHL prefers this tournament because everyone's insured and they're making money off it but tbh I kind of think there's a greater chance of injury here than in the Olympics, incidents like Tavares aside, because the sample size here is smaller and they're playing against more NHL people than they normally would in the Olympics (other than the US and Canada, which are givens) so more people are playing with an edge.
