Re: Game day thread 20 September 2016

It feels weird rooting for Canada. I'm only doing it because I want Team Europe to advance, but still. It goes against everything I've ever known.

Re: Game day thread 20 September 2016

Why would you do that to yourself, bb? D: A lot would have to fall into place for Europe not to advance even with a USA win tonight. Plus, there's still one scenario, however improbable, where neither Canada nor USA advance and that's the one I'm holding out hope for.

Re: Game day thread 20 September 2016

From: (Anonymous)
Because I am an incredibly anxious person, and I want to have the guarantee of Europe advancing ASAP. EVERYTHING COULD GO WRONG AT ANY MINUTE, etc. etc.

I would love it if the Czech Republic got through too, but I'm having trouble seeing it happen, even with Neuvy playing his heart out. Which sucks, but I have to be realistic, or my poor dumb heart will be crushed every time.

Seriously. Never, ever root for Canada. Root for Canada, and somewhere, a baby bunny will die, you will find yourself locked in a cabin with nothing but subpar maple syrup, and you will live on to see your faves defeated by Canada. Do not do it. It's not worth it. It's never worth it.

This Canadian is offended by your statement.

How does it feel to be responsible for the deaths of countless baby bunnies?

Re: Game day thread 20 September 2016

a the ayrt rt

Very few people understand the impact of Canadian hockey fans on baby bunny populations worldwide. They only get away with it because they callously wish death upon an animal that produces a lot of (adorable, innocent, fuzzy) young.

wait, what?

Re: Game day thread 20 September 2016

From: (Anonymous)
Every time someone roots for team Canada, a baby bunny dies. Fact.

Re: Game day thread 20 September 2016

From: (Anonymous)
So what you're saying is that Canadian hockey fans are a vital part of the ecosystem?

Re: Game day thread 20 September 2016

From: (Anonymous)
No, they murder adorable baby bunnies, which has the ripple effect of murdering baby foxes and owls and other adorable baby animals. The world's biodiversity has gone down since the 1972 Summit Series, when "Team Canada" first became a thing. Look it up.

Re: Game day thread 20 September 2016

More like you're destroying the balance of the ecosystem. You kill too many rabbits, so there aren't enough rabbits for the wolves, so the wolves eat more caribou, so then you shoot the wolves. You monsters.

Good. ;)

:( I can live with subpar maple syrup in my bitterly cold Candian shack, but I don't want my faves to be defeated by Canada :(

I just really love Team Europe and want them to advance, OK? I never asked for anything else!

That looks and sounds delicious.

:D Was just coming on here to say that actually rooting for Canada sounds like it could be delicious

THE MAPLE SYRUP IS SUBPAR THO. THAT IS A KEY ELEMENT HERE.

Re: Game day thread 20 September 2016

Perfect for the recipe then!

(Grade B isn't subpar tho, it's just made from sap harvested later in the year and it's stronger and darker!)

Re: Game day thread 20 September 2016

From: (Anonymous)
I definitely mean subpar as in poor quality or mixed with lesser syrups, not as in Grade B. I quite like Grade B maple syrup.

I don't think the dead bunny magically teleports to you. I think the meat just gets wasted. Think of all the wasted rabbit dishes, nonny!

Re: Game day thread 20 September 2016

From: (Anonymous)
Gosh darn it. So now, according to other maple syrup nonnies, it's shitty subpar maple braised bunny, possibly without the bunny too...so, shitty subpar maple braised carrots? *rethinks priorities*

Re: Game day thread 20 September 2016

WTF does Team Canada winning have to do with Team Europe advancing? Team Europe has a better shot if Canada loses — right now they are the only team with 4 points in the tournament. If Canada wins, they will be tied.

Re: Game day thread 20 September 2016

From: (Anonymous)
2 teams from each group advance, so if Canada wins, both Canada and Europe are locked in to advance, as they'll have more wins than either of the other two teams can get. Whereas it's possible for Europe to be eliminated if USA wins its next two games and Canada wins its game against Europe.
