They make them disappear - and it's absolutely as creepy/disappointing as it seems.

Robidas, Lupul, there's more but I'm drawing an absolute blank. Toronto media actually calls it "Robidas Island" - the place where Leafs veterans go to disappear.

It's not cap circumvention because the players don't go on LTIR, so there is no cap relief. Unless you mean it's allowing them to meet the floor with a roster of mostly ELCs.

To go with what else has been said, rumor has it that Brooks Laich declined a berth on Robidas Island before he was sent to the AHL.

Horton, Lupus, and Robidas are all on LTIR? They're not using the cap relief now since they have the space, but they will be needing it when their ELC performance bonuses come due on their cap.

Horton has an actual career ending injury. But Lupul and Robidas weren't put on LTIR last year when "Robidas Island" got started, just this year.
