But that doesn't really substantially change their cap situation, considering one guy going to Vegas means one more body they'll need to replace? Even if Vegas takes the highest-paid player the Hawks can expose, which is Kruger, getting rid his ~$3.08 mil salary leaves the Hawks roughly $5.3 mil to fill nine roster spots, which averages out to ~$590,000 per player, just over league minimum. Other than Kruger and Panarin, literally every other Blackhawk making over $1 mil has some form of NTC/NMC, so they won't find it easy to shed salary.

League minimum is supposed to be 650,000 next season, I think (which doesn't really change much, lol, just wanted to point it out).

Well, even better! I'll add another $612,500 to their cap space, assuming they aren't going to keep their emergency goaltender up -- that works out to ~$5.93 mil for 9 players, for ~$660,000 a player, just above the new minimum.

Re: Playoff feels

ayrt I didn't say it would substantially change their cap situation. The point was that it will affect who they have to replace/resign.

Re: Playoff feels

But the whole thread is about their cap situation. What does one guy going to Vegas have to do with the comment you replied to about cap space?

Re: Playoff feels

From: (Anonymous)
ayrt It was talking about how the cap space is going to affect who they re-sign/replace. I was noting that losing a player to Vegas is going to affect who they need to re-sign/replace.

Re: Playoff feels

From: (Anonymous)
No, it wasn't? It was literally counting cap space vs number of roster spots to be filled, assuming the same size roster as currently.

Re: Playoff feels

And how does a guy leaving (whose exact salary will alter the cap space available, and whether the player they sign to replace him costs more or less) not count as a roster spot that needs to be filled?

Re: Playoff feels

Are you just going around in circles now? A guy leaving creates one more empty roster spot and roughly one more player's worth of cap space. That still doesn't change the cap situation: http://dekedangle-rpfanon.dreamwidth.org/7814.html?thread=36753286#cmt36753286.

Losing a player to the expansion draft has no bearing on the fact that the Blackhawks don't have enough cap space to realistically fill the amount of spots they have to fill, which was the point being made.
