Wow. That's peak tumrlr discourse. I love that "please decolonize your mind" at the end best. Though, to be honest, none of the people involved in this conversation came out of it in flying colors.

All the venting threads on this meme lead me to believe that the Leafs fandom on tumblr is a cesspool I should stay away from. Thanks for the warning, I guess.

SA. Fuck, I need to stop hate-reading this garbage. Commentary on the latest game in the Caps/Leafs series:

"the concept of a tom wilson goal scored from a lars eller assist called me slurs, stripped me of my rights, and assimilated me into white christianity"

I just have no words. Just wonder. And amazement.

Why is Lars Eller problematic?

Re: Fandom Venting

He's white & a former Hab, I'm guessing? He's always seemed so nondescript to me, so I just cannot imagine what they've got against him.

Some of these people have grievances against every single player in the league and I don't think they even know why. Somebody on twitter called Oshie a racist yesterday and when asked what he did said "I don't remember, I saw it on tumblr once". Good grief.

Re: Fandom Venting

iirc Tumblr's grievance with him is he said he was okay with the "Fighting Sioux" team name. Which is a little more gray area for me than the average player since he does have legit Native ancestry, though not that particular tribe.

Re: Fandom Venting

Another grievance is that his wife liked an anti-black tweets. I've also heard people say the Oshies are Trump supporters, but I don't know if that's legit or fandom jumping to conclusions.

Most of the current/former players from that program are so open about preferring the Fighting Sioux nickname. Not that he's absolved because of that or anything, though.

NA

Someone else said TJ Oshie scoring after Matthews is "..... racism." I know it's something of a fad for people to joke that something they don't like as a LGBT+ person/POC is homophobic/racist, and I really wish it wasn't. I'm not even that far out of my teens, it's too soon for me to be thinking these children are going to be so embarrassed when they grow up! And yet.

I hate that "joke" with the fire of a thousand suns and wish it would die already.

That said, I wonder if it would blow their minds to learn that Oshie is 1/4 Ojibwe and his father is active in the Minnesota Indian community.

he and his wife are definitely hardcore trump supporters though.

Isn't Angela Price pretty conservative, too? Like, that crowd needs a major overhaul in how they think about race, but I am negative interested in watching someone with their amount of tact ever try to handle the conservative minority conversation.

Yeah, she definitely is, she's made no secret about it. There's no hard evidence that she's a Trump supporter, but right after the election she liked a tweet making fun of anti-Trump people and followed Trump on twitter. Fwiw, her mother voted for Trump.

I get why people from other countries would have an opinion on our elections, but it still gives me an extra creepy crawly feeling when I hear a Canadian being called a Trump supporter. Like, they have really travel out of their way to be so wrong.

She's from Michigan.
