I thought it was a pretty common perception (esp. during the Drouin situation) that he favored the kids who played for him in Norfolk/Syracuse. Specifically the ones who played for him when they won the Calder Cup.

Someone in hockey media always called them "Coops Troops"

I'm familiar with Coops Troops. There's a difference between being more comfortable with certain players because you know their strengths and weaknesses versus giving someone a free pass. Jon Cooper has been with the Lightning as long as he was HC in Norfolk/Syracuse now. I don't know that his views of the team are still stuck on the players he was close to four years ago in the AHL the way it was. In any case, I wanted to know who the anon was implying were getting a free pass.
