Re: Discussion Thread
From: (Anonymous)Re: Discussion Thread
From: (Anonymous)Trading anyone but maybe EJ or one of the garbage dmen for a forward would be pretty terrible for the Avs. I really don't think Zadorov wants to go back to Russia; there's rumors that Mironov is coming over and I think they both want to be a part of the youth movement.
It would be really bad for Tyson. Any time he had one of his meltdowns, fans would be so quick to throw him under the bus. I doubt the media would take kindly to him either. And imagine his dad going to games? He'd have to go in disguise.
Re: Discussion Thread
From: (Anonymous)It would end so poorly. Let's hope we never see it.
I'm not even sure that Drouin is such a good idea, like I know him and Nate were good for Halifax but no one knows how that would translate at NHL level. If they could have made it happen when Drouin was in the dog house it could have been worth a shot, but now I think the price might be too high.
Re: Discussion Thread
From: (Anonymous)Even then it doesn't really work though. It just creates another hole.
Right now it's:
Zadorov-EJ
Duchene Trade-Barrie
Barberio-Lindholm
Mironov, Bigras, Beauchemin's corpse as extras.
If they trade Zadorov (or god forbid he leaves), it's:
???-EJ
Duchene Trade-Barrie
Barberio-Lindholm
with one of the extras filling that spot. It would probably be Barberio, then leaving a spot for Beauchemin. Or worse, Beauchemin on the first pairing. Mironov and Bigras are unproven. IMO the defense will be in the same spot as last year if they do that, which defeats the purpose of the Duchene trade.
Drouin and Nate also weren't good together at the World Cup. Drouin in general wasn't very good, but Nate had way better chemistry with RNH. I don't think it would be worth it to try and get him.
Especially because he's probably going to ask for a ton of money and the Avs don't really like giving that much money to young players. One of the insiders said that Drouin thinks he deserves as much as players like Nate and Monahan but he hasn't been in the league as long and hasn't proven as much as they did when they got their contracts. So I think the Avs would be adverse to that risk. He's already held out once...
