I hadn't see pictures of his dogs in a long time, so I had no idea what they looked like now, but I just saw the picture he posted on IG for National Best Friends Day, and HOLY SHIT!

Definitely joining you in being judgy about how overweight his dogs are.

Whoa, I was feeling a little defensive because my dogs are also a little pudgy and it's easy for labs go in that direction even when you try really hard to prevent it, but jesus. If I were a breeder I'm not sure I'd sell one of my dogs to him if I saw pictures of his current ones.

I've seen dogs way fatter than that. They're overweight, but at least they look like they can still move.

Are we actually bodyshaming Tyler Seguin's dogs?? They're not human and therefore probably don't fall under rule 5, but come on. If we're going to be judgey about Tyler Seguin, there are so better other avenues to take.

Well, yeah, exactly, they're dogs. It's up to their owner to make sure they have long, healthy lives. They're, what, six and three? There's no reason for them not to be kept in better shape.

Comparing it "bodyshaming" humans is asinine. No one is judging the dogs' worth or character.

You're evaluating the health of the dogs based on an Instagram photo, focusing solely on their weight, with no knowledge of their medical histories, genetics, or literally anything else. Which is exactly what people do when they bodyshame humans. It contributes to the overall stigma and particularly makes people feel like they have license to judge, for instance, the parenting skills of people with chubby kids.

tldr; they're good dogs Brent

For fucks sake, they're purebred labs with show dog lineage owned by a historically immature twat who has all the resources in the world. If people had as wide expectations for people's bodies as they do breeds of dogs, we'd be much better off. They're not comparable at all. Stop being dim.

Re: Fandom Venting

No one is saying they're not good dogs, it's their owner who is not good to them. How in the world are you comparing not caring for your dogs enough (probably too little exercise?) with bodyshaming?! And knock it off with the "medical histories" and buzzwords, we're talking about dogs.

NA

While I personally don't know enough about dogs to judge in this situation I think it's not directly comparable to unhealthy human vanity standards. Like it doesn't seem transferable that someone seemingly enough in the know to look for signs of pet negligence would be doing it couched in a mindset about human weight.

Though it would be good to generally be careful with the language and not use too much phrasing that is used negatively against humans since it probably would reinforce things in the way you're connecting it.

Omfg this comment. Sure man, both his older dogs have genetic diseases causing them to be this fat, instead of, you know, going the typical Labrador way and getting majorly overfed.

People who are defending him clearly don't know anything about labs.

Re: Fandom Venting

He probably feeds them from the table too.

Re: Fandom Venting

They're DOGS how does pointing out that they're fat contribute to the against overweight people??? It's far more likely that they're overfed than that they both medical histories and genetics that would cause them to be overweight.

He's so vain about how HE looks. I'm surprised it doesn't carrry over into his dogs. Most of the gym rat dudes I know are as obsessive about their dogs physique as they are about their own (all about the 'gram dontcha know.)
