I made sure there wasn't any Kane in my tumblr queue. What else was I supposed to do? I've never written Hawks fic, my friends know where I stand on the subject. I don't need a sticky for people to read about why I think Kane is a terrible person who definitely did it.

I suspect, as someone who still follows a lot of K/T adjacent people, that AYRT is referring to the shippers who've written/read tons of fic and are being very oddly quiet or silently liking shitty Kane-supporting posts.

It might still be unfair to make assumptions but personally, every person I've made those unfair assumptions about has in fact wound up reblogging or otherwise agreeing with something awful. Sometimes assumptions just come from experience.

While the people you're talking about are taking the bullshit "wait and see" approach to Kane, I'm taking the "wait and see" approach to them. I am genuinely curious as to what someone like svmadelyn is going to do in response to various outcomes in the case. Because she is definitely one of those people quietly supporting Kane supporters under the guise of "wait and see".

I 100% agree. Like I said before, I'm not sure what exactly they're waiting for, but I'll also be interested in how they react, especially since you would think that every logical and reasonable person knows that even if the law declares him innocent it doesn't mean he didn't do it.

She'll move onto another fandom and I can guarantee that if you disagreed with her about this to her face she'll spend months or years slandering you to anyone who'll listen and painting herself as the victim of BNF hatred. She has done this before over fandom-altering stuff and/or thing she behaved badly about.

Madelyn's entire identity is based on being popular in fandom and having control in fandom. I'm pretty sure her anger is less about Kane's innocence or guilt and more about her loss of control. Too many people are relevant, she's never managed to attain true Tumblr BNFdom, and now the pairing she bet it all on is unviable. To her that's an attack on her identity, doubly so because people aren't allowing her to control their response. /shrug Some people are like that I guess.

Smallville - she's still salty about everyone who didn't ship Clex & still weird about Pru
Merlin - she's still mad about people who shipped Merlin with other characters than Arthur, particularly knights of the round table
Hockey - Dunno if this will out me but I once mentioned having read impertinence's fic to her, as an aside, and she basically told me that impertinence is a monster and "those kinds of recs" hurt the health of the fandom

So yeah she's got a history....

It's not particularly funny, sadly. Big fic fest related - I think Big Bang? fallout in Merlin fandom. Went to a Chicago hockey fan girl thing years later and Madelyn was badmouthing people involved in that, people involved in the earlier days of hockey fandom...anyone she could make look like a victimizer of her, Madelyn the saint, who only wants to force people to write exactly what she wants and think exactly like her. It really soured me on the whole thing.

What I find really hilarious is that Madelyn's next move would presumably be to move on to One Direction fandom. She loves Harry Styles. But they've decided to go on hiatus just as she would have started searching for a new home.

She can't do Man From Uncle because imp is there already, bespoiling the whitecock ship Madelyn would have loved with her threesome love. She can't go Avengers because there's not enough OTP respect there. Ditto for Teen Wolf and that's dying anyway. But what other big or medium thriving fandoms are there for her to lord herself over?

If what she wants is OTP wank, she's got plenty to choose from in MCU. And she can still go to Man from UNCLE because then she'd have a ready-made nemesis.

She never wants OTP wank though. She starts it because she wants everyone to love the OTP she personally has chosen which is always of course the most popular ship in the fandom. But then would she choose Steve/Tony or Steve/Bucky which has less fic but is more in vogue at the moment? Whichever one she picks, anyone enjoying the other will make her eye twitch. She's incapable of understanding that people's preferences are not an attack on her personally.

She hates to see them broken up.

Even before this Kane drama, there were people like cherryvanilla and alotofthingsdifferent writing Toews/Watt, Toews/KStew, Toews/Seabs and I'm sure Madelyn hated that.

I don't know about what she's doing in hockey, but way back in the day she fucked hated anyone who shipped anything other than Clark/Lex. Same with the people who shipped anything other than John/Rodney. She has OTP issues.

The idea of her moving into One Direction fandom and becoming a Larry is vaguely horrifying, but even if they weren't going on hiatus I'm not sure if it would appeal to her- it's such a huge fandom that trying to organize anything fannish is like herding cats, and there aren't many BNFs just because there are such varying cliques with very different interests (at least during my brief stay in that fandom a while back, it could be different now).

she would hate the One Direction fandom. it's huge and sprawling and full of in-fighting and all the big fic writers are established already. there's not room for a new BNF to go in and start running things.
