I often like the Hockey PDOcast, and for the Pens the Garage League Podcast.

I was talking about the "get a room"/ separate rooms part, not the sleepovers. And Matt Strome is younger than Dylan.

Their dads were friends at hockey tournaments? Like, they'd drop off wee!Dylan and wee!Aaron at the tournament, got to talking to the other parents, met each other and started hanging out and getting beers together at subsequent tournaments, but never introduced their kids? Sounds kind of like we should be shipping their dads. Or writing Dylan/Aaron arranged marriage fic.

he's making a gay joke, i don't get how that's hard to understand.

I don't even like the Pens but I like the Garage League Podcast. Good sound quality, very organized, decent mix of stats and eye test.

Is there a gender neutral form of mansplaining? Because there has been a whole lot of unnecessary observations free of any noteworthy content lately.

I KNOW, lol.

Oops, on the age, I guess. And I know what you were talking about? I thought you were honestly asking a question. I'm saying that he's teasing them about getting up to hijinks together. He could mean sexual ones, but he doesn't have to.

Meaningless rebuttal that can be boiled down to "fuck off."

I've never heard "get a room" used for anything but teasing people about PDA or flirting but ok, sure.

Really? You've never heard someone tease two people who happen to be just acting friendly with each other and not actually flirting with that? OK.

I have an outline? I would feel better if I'd started writing some scenes, but at least I narrowed it down to which pairing I was writing and the storyline I wanted.

na

No. It's always code for "go somewhere else and fuck".

Re: Fandom Goggles

(Anonymous) 2016-06-03 08:08 pm (UTC)(link)
Good lord. Even if the two people aren't actually flirting the implication of telling two people to get a room is "go flirt elsewhere!" I don't think strome and marner actually hook up, if that's what you're implying, but I don't think M. Strome was teasing them for having sleepovers or being too friendly. He was making a gay joke.

I would be very interested in reading that!

Feels kind of old skool fandom. Reminds me of how there used to be a website that would track all the various sources of Buffy spoiler leaks over the course of the season and analyze which places ended up being more trustworthy regarding what happened on the show.

Eh, I've heard phrases like this used in a clearly joking manner lots of times?

Coding nonnies, is there any way to use ao3 savior to sort out complete works? I Dislike bookmarking for Reasons, and I feel like it should be fairly straightforward, but that one semester of computer science a few years ago just isn't cutting it. Will write fic for code segment.

Re: Fandom Goggles

Yes. Obviously. No one is arguing that Matt Strome ACTUALLY thinks his big brother is fucking Mitch Marner. But the implication is always sexual or romantic, even if used in a completely joking way, just like most of the gay jokes these guys regularly spout. I can't believe this is an argument.

If you're not saying that he's saying they actually hook up, then I don't know what you're disagreeing with even. Obviously, the "joke" part of the gay joke you mention is that them having sleepovers/being friendly is considered unusual unless they're in a couple relationship and that's what he's teasing them about. Which is what I said from the beginning. I wasn't saying he wasn't joking with them. I was saying you can interpret his comments as meaning something other than him thinking that the two of them are having sex.

A the AYRT RT

Yes, thank you.

Re: Fandom Goggles

(Anonymous) 2016-06-03 08:37 pm (UTC)(link)
My very original comment was saying that I couldn't see an alternative other than him joking that they should go hook up, and I still can't. That's what get a room means. It's a joke. About them hooking up/flirting too much/whatever. I think we need to agree to disagree because this is getting absurd.

Re: Random Hockey Thread

(Anonymous) 2016-06-03 08:39 pm (UTC)(link)
I can't get over how weird it is that the two Kelly Cup finalists are the ECHL affiliates of the two Stanley cup finalists. It seems like an embarrassment of riches for the Sharks and the Pens. They are both doing well now and their future looks pretty rosy, also.

Re: Random Hockey Thread

(Anonymous) 2016-06-03 08:42 pm (UTC)(link)
Especially given that this time last year, those were two teams that everyone was saying were in shambles and had no future and had to be blown up and rebuilt after the Sharks missed the playoffs and the Pens barely stumbled in and were fortunate to win one game.

From this : http://www.tsn.ca/towering-laine-possesses-a-powerful-confidence-1.500870

“I like it when the other team loses its focus and does bad and dirty things to me,” Laine said.

Really? Like. Really? (Obviously quote taken out of context but still)
