There's not less risk of dehydration exactly. Humid conditions are warned about more, because the comparison is to normal, less humid conditions that people usually encounter, not to actually dry air. If the humidity is very low as in some deserts, the air sucks water right out of human bodies.

In the United States, also. Matthew was ranked #3 or #2 every year from 1981 to 2001 and Ryan was always in the top 15 during that span.

Fortunately/unfortunately, Filatov didn't have Fictional Jagr around to pimp him to the mafia.

The coming-of-age tentacle is making me lol. It's an interesting take, I'll give it that.

Re: Kinkmeme Talk

From: (Anonymous)
I like how we have enough tentacle fic now that we can refer to different genres, lol... the Bildungstentakel, consentacles, etc.

Re: Kinkmeme Talk

From: (Anonymous)
The word consentacles makes me giggle.

I was surprised by Malkin's low TOI and looked at the last few games. Most playoff games he's between 15 and 20 minutes, sometimes less. A quick look at the regular season shows most often times between 16 and 23 minutes. I wonder if we'll find out what kind of injury Malkin has after the playoffs, he's clearly not completely healthy.

OP

That is about exactly as disorganized as I expected, which I find weirdly charming.

@classicity (who does a lot of hockey visualization stuff) did a series of charts recently on forward TOI vs salary, and her comment on Pittsburgh was "LOL who needs a fourth line?" because all Pittsburgh's fourth liners pick up enough time on the PK and other situations (see: Cullen taking every DZone faceoff ever) that they'd count as third liners on most other teams.

Which is to say, yeah, Sullivan is really putting on emphasis on rolling four lines.

I think he's probably just not completely healed from his earlier injury, I kinda doubt we'll find out any new info at the end of the season.

I like her stuff, I wish it was easier to find the charts again. A link to the TOI&salary one would be great if you have it. This chart has TOI and PP/60: https://twitter.com/Classlicity/status/739816777941553152

Some of her stuff is hosted at @IneffectiveMath's site now, but not any of the most recent things. Anyway, here's the TOI&salary one (with charts for all the other teams in the same thread):

Thank you! Do you know if she did the same thing for defensemen?

I don't think so. She's been all about forwards lately.

Re: Hockey Media

There's a nice article on Olli Maatta on Sportsnet:
http://www.sportsnet.ca/hockey/nhl/resilient-maatta-embodies-penguins/

I have a question, though.

I think that pales in comparison to having cancer, to blowing out both your shoulders, to almost having a lacerated kidney when he went head-first into the boards there (in November),” said Cole.

I thought Maatta injured the same shoulder twice? I thought it was generally thought that the Pens brought him back too soon in fall 2015 and he re-injured it. Have I just been confused all this time? (Speaking of, does anyone have any idea when in 2014 he was supposed to have injured that first shoulder?)

Relatedly, Sharks nonnies, I hope you're getting some nice player profiles and stuff out of the SCF like we have been. I've learned more about some of the guys on my roster in the last two weeks than I had in the past year before this. So I hope you also are getting lots of goodies.

Re: Hockey Media

From: (Anonymous)
I'm pretty sure it was the same shoulder, but I've also heard that he didn't come back too soon and it really was just a freak accident. He got injured on December 6th 2014 and didn't play another game that season, so it doesn't sound like he rushed back (unless I forgot another injury in-between?)

Sidenote to that nonnie who was asking about Olli's friends on the team, there were several articles recently where Ian Cole was gushing about how great Olli is.

Re: Hockey Media

From: (Anonymous)
Yeah, Cole is mistaken. He injured the same shoulder. Some corners of Pens Twitter who have ~sources~ strongly hinted that his original surgery was botched and that was why it got re-injured.

With one thing and another, I think it got missed that Paul Bissonette got his first professional playoff goal — ish.

Ha ha, that nonnie was me. And yes, I definitely was *eyeball emoji* over all these quotes from Cole about Olli. There was a line somewhere that specifically said they were good friends.

By "rushed back" I mean from the first surgery - he had it in May of 2014 and wasn't expected to be back until a few weeks into the 2014-2015 season, but instead he was there for the opening game.

Re: Bangs, fests, exchanges etc

From: (Anonymous)
there's a Lightning fic exchange coming http://boltsficexchange.tumblr.com/

Re: Bangs, fests, exchanges etc

From: (Anonymous)
Interesting. It's a character exchange and not a pairing one.

Re: Hockey Media

From: (Anonymous)
Alex Prewitt from SI wrote a good article about Olli too. But the outtake quotes on his Twitter (@alex_prewitt) are the real gold. Including this gem:

Cole also described Maatta's quiet personality like this:

"Well, he's not a..."

[makes finger guns]

[says pew-pew]

"...kind of guy."

He's also the one who wrote about Hagelin's Mich teammates calling him "hot Carl." He's pretty much a hero.

Re: Bangs, fests, exchanges etc

From: (Anonymous)
I don't think there are enough established Lightning ships to be able to match based on pairing. I'm considering signing up and I have no idea if anybody else even ships the stuff I do, but I'm pretty sure at least one other person likes Hedman and wants to read about him boning, for example.

Re: Game Day Thread, June 6, 2016

From: (Anonymous)
Whilst I'm sure his health is part of it, I think it's been particularly low due to less powerplay time and the fact that the Pens have been defending leads in the third.
