I'm amused by the graph, but completely befuddled by the conclusion. If the graphs are the same, why does Niemi have a 54% chance of being better than Lehtonen?

a-ayrt-rt

Niemi's average is a teeny tiny bit better than Lehtonen's in an almost identical sample size, so it's pretty much almost a 50/50 toss up which one of the two is actually better.

NBC on its worst day is not more actively infuriating than Don Cherry's brand new contract extension.

I do get that Strombo & Kipper awkwardly positioning themselves on a studio "rink" while awkwardly talking about the night's game is awkward. But I think it's telling that when people complain about it they rarely say they wish for whatever people used to see instead to come back. I don't know that there's anything that people would enjoy in that spot or that would attract viewers. It's the games that do that, and Canadians just aren't interested in these playoffs.

Every time I think I could not love Ben Scrivens (and his wife!) more, he does something like use female pronouns when referring to a generic goaltender.

Is anyone else getting the "Sorry, an error has occurred. Please try again later." message on this? I've had it for like two days straight, and I've tried all the usual reloading/rebooting/etc. Other clips work, just this one and I think one other, a McDavid interview IIRC, don't.

Anyway, just wondering if the problem is with me or them. :/

Legit, all I gathered from their stats this year was: "wow, we have two goalies that, well, have the same effect" and added the similar stat thing to burn on the soulmate fuel pile

We'll have to agree to disagree on Don Cherry vs NBC. At least Don Cherry isn't on very long, and only one segment per night, usually.

I don't think the article is principally interested in arguing that Canada isn't watching the playoffs because HNIC is bad, though. That's the lead in, but most of the article is about other things. I was interested because as someone new to sports, I've yet to find ANY intermission commentary or whatever to be very engaging, and I'm still trying to figure out what, if anything, I would rather see.

I'm getting the same error, so I'd guess probably them.

On the one hand, I'm kinda glad it's not just me. But on the other, if it was maybe I could have fixed it.

He does my favorite thing: alternating pronouns. He basically picked a pronoun for a subject and stuck with it for his example and then started anew. (And the singular they showed up, too!)

Aw, Ben Scrivens is my favorite.

(/Bemoans the fact that not every style guide endorses alternating pronouns)

NHL Sues NHLPA

(Anonymous) 2016-06-10 08:48 pm (UTC)(link)
I think this got a bit buried yesterday, because of the game. The NHL has sued the NHLPA for the reinstatement of Dennis Wideman's full 20-game suspension.

That's what I liked about it! If that's not a soulmate graph, I don't know what is. They've both had very long careers with completely different teams until now, and to see their stats match each other so much is amazing.

Torontos fans would murder the front office. The Coyotes are going to have to wait and pull a Suter/Parise signing when Mathews hits UFA.

Maybe they'll announce Jordie Benn's extension.

When you're on tumblr and looking at the page of people you follow, the upper right corner has the userpics of the people you reblog most and if you mouse over it you can get their name. What does it mean when you mouse over it and their name no longer pops up? Is that deleted journals or journals who have blocked you?

Re: Ask Meme

(Anonymous) 2016-06-10 10:40 pm (UTC)(link)
if you actually click you'll probably find out if they've deleted, other than that idk.

also they're called blogs, not journals lol.

Re: Ask Meme

(Anonymous) 2016-06-10 10:45 pm (UTC)(link)
I wish they were called tumbles. Because really. They mostly aren't actual blogs.

Re: Ask Meme

(Anonymous) 2016-06-10 10:56 pm (UTC)(link)
I usually do call it "my tumblr" because calling it "my blog" when it's just a bunch of nonsense that I reblog is a bit pretentious in my mind.

I would be tempted to stab myself if that is the case.

For the stuffing/food kink nonnies, further confirmation that Sidney Crosby just loves food:
https://www.nhl.com/news/jeff-zatkoff-says-penguins-have-good-practice-ahead-of-stanley-cup-final-game-5/c-280918176

People always ask me, "What's Sid like? What makes Sid so great?" Well, I do believe I have found the secret to his success. It's dessert. He loves dessert, and it has been the driving force behind our playoff push. From Magnolia Bakery in New York, to Georgetown Cupcakes, he refuses to be denied.

This man's combined talents of hockey and catering to my kinks continue to impress.

Two guys named Antti in all the NHL as far as I know, and they both play goalie. Half the time I'm convinced Antti Niemi played for NYR last year, and the other half the time I'm convinced Antti Raanta played for Chicago.

See also: Cam Talbot and Cam Ward.

You can't click on them, so that's no help.

You know that blog is just short for web log, right? Log and journal mean the same thing, yo.

Re: Fandom Venting

(Anonymous) 2016-06-10 11:26 pm (UTC)(link)
...Antti Raanta did play for Chicago.

You see my problem, nonnie. /o\

The repetitiveness of the prompts is kinda killing me though. The fills are great and unique, but sometimes it feels like prompts are just unoriginal stuffing, tentacles 'n' eggs, brocest, Your Fave Pens, repeat. Like, it doesn't hurt anything, but... we get it. Interest has been established. Write something of your own if the two simultaneous fills that more or less fit your prompt aren't to your particular liking.
