Preds nonnie

He hates the Preds, but I know I've seen Pens nonnies talking about PD Pens-related salt. So it definitely can be both.

I would argue Ovechkin as, at least, a generational goalscorer, if not the best of all time. He has a real shot to be first all time in goals.

I don't think McDavid is in the discussion yet, and if he is I would argue that's media bias. He hasn't even played a full season, he hasn't even played a consecutive half season.

Aww. They're so cute about each other.

To be fair to the AYRT, I meant it somewhere between how you are both interpreting it. You're wrong, I was not including Kane & Toews in my comment. As the AYRT says, they aren't generational talents. They are franchise players. I'm not sure how you could have thought I was including them in a comment about whether the Penguins qualified as a rebuild. However, I was not limiting it to Crosby. I was allowing the possiblity of that generational talent may include Malkin, which is why I wrote "person(s)." So, I'm not being as strict as the AYRT or as loosey-goosey as you.

There are also some still active players whose PPG were over 1 back when they were Malkin and Crosby's age, but slowed down in their 30s.

Anze Kopitar has *allegedly* been told that he's the new captain of the LA Kings.

Re: What is up with your team? –– non-SCF edition

Why @ the Hurricanes? You could probably get Reimer for only a little more (assuming he takes about 4 or 4.5 mil). And the NTC is bizarre for a sub-.915 goaltender.

Hopefully for their fans this means they're not going to overpay for EStaal too.

Anze Kopitar named LA KIngs new captain.

hope your idea worked out nonnie!

does meme still have any collection shakers about? they seemed to be able to magically tell what fics to predict, though maybe its less exciting in a single-pairing exchange

I have mixed feelings about this. He's obviously going to be a great team representative, but I dislike them giving him a bunch of additional responsibilities just because they want their 50th anniversary celebration to be more aesthetically pleasing. I love the idea of Captain Kopitar. Hell, I've been saving my money to buy a Team Europe jersey, because of him. He's hands-down my pick for captain.

But stripping captaincies willy-nilly doesn't sit well with me. If they had managed to trade Brown, that'd be one thing. But regardless of his on-ice performance, I haven't heard any rumors about him being a bad captain off of the ice. He certainly regurgitates Dean Lombardi's speechified nonsense better than anyone else on the team in a way that makes you know he really believes in it, and it seems cruel to deny him those anniversary rituals.

Looks like they're still looking for pinch hitters:

I'm really bad at it, but I could take a stab if you have the collection link.

Speaking of Cooper, did anyone else get the vibe from the last MvsW podcast that he's getting on Wysh's last nerve? Wysh was talking about having to work on something last minute and Marek was chiding him for not having had it already and Wysh said that Cooper was supposed to have done it. Something about his tone and the way Marek responded gave me the impression that Wysh has been complaining about Cooper's work a lot lately off-air.

I get like this about sports sometimes too. Distracting myself with something fictional usually helps since at least those people aren't real so their successes/failures come with more of an emotional buffer to me.

The Kings beatwriters I follow on Twitter seem across the board to be saying as far as the media is concerned Brown was a good captain always available (even when most every one else wasn't.)

The thing that bothers me is I've seen in a couple of places that they told Kopitar when he signed his new deal that he was going to be made captain, and my feelings onDustin Brown aside, I'm bothered by the idea that you'd sell out your current captain that way.

Dean Lombardi seems like he has really terrible people management skills.

And not even just Reimer but there are goalies who might get traded because of contract and expansion stuff like one of the Tampa or Anaheim guys (but maybe they don't want to deal with Andersen again).

We were talking about the Pens in the context of whether or not the Hawks could do a "quick rebuild." I see what you meant now, but I'm not sure how you could possibly think that your usage was that clear when it sounded like you were talking about the general definition of a rebuild when you said "your team's generational talent can't stay them same in a rebuild." I didn't think by that phrasing you would be using generational talent to talk about something that by that definition only one team or two teams have. I didn't realize you meant specifically and only Crosby and Malkin, so it struck me as a strange phrase but I just mirrored your word choice in my reply (and added "core" as what I had assumed you meant). I am well aware of what Kane and Toews are and aren't. I just had no interest in opening up another discussion about your use of that term in case we disagreed.

Is it wrong that I want Bellemare putting French gay mags into Giroux's locker as the souvenir he got him during the lockout?

i don't have time to go through all the fics rn, but i can tell you there's a fic tagged "non consensual demon touching", just to whet your appetite.

Nevermind, wrong part of 2012 for that.

Re: What is up with your team? –– non-SCF edition

Because Nedeljkovic should be ready by the time Ward's contract is up, and free agency likely requires more term.

And also PEB wouldn't even be on the team yet. I'm so. I always think he came in 2013 and that's the wrong season.

It's too hot to THINK, I think I am blaming the this on

Re: What is up with your team? –– non-SCF edition

Dustin Brown is, by all means, a heart-and-soul guy, and he's been aware that his contract is a drain on the team for a while. I'm sure he okayed it (he does love Kopitar a whole lot), but on the personal side I do agree. It's a shitty thing to do to someone who lead the team to two Cups and has been around the longest out of anyone.

IMO the fact that they stripped him means that they're sure they can't trade him. If they could have traded him and made Kopitar captain afterwards, they would have, but no one wants the contract (goes through 2022, I believe).

I think Dean Lombardi's philosophy is to see all the players as pieces before he sees them as people, which is a good skill to have as a GM but not as a human being.

That being said, Kopitar is going to be a great captain and this'll finally shut up all the idiots who think it should be Doughty.

It's still a cute idea, though. Maybe PEB can randomly text him pics from French gay mags this summer instead. It's the internet, shit keeps circulating forever and popping up on people's feeds at the weirdest times. He can caption each one with some variation of "I saw this and thought of you."
