Re: What is up with your team? –– non-SCF edition
From: (Anonymous)Anze Kopitar named LA KIngs new captain.
Re: What is up with your team? –– non-SCF edition
From: (Anonymous)But stripping captaincies willy-nilly doesn't sit well with me. If they had managed to trade Brown, that'd be one thing. But regardless of his on-ice performance, I haven't heard any rumors about him being a bad captain off of the ice. He certainly regurgitates Dean Lombardi's speechified nonsense better than anyone else on the team in a way that makes you know he really believes in it, and it seems cruel to deny him those anniversary rituals.
Re: What is up with your team? –– non-SCF edition
From: (Anonymous)The thing that bothers me is I've seen in a couple of places that they told Kopitar when he signed his new deal that he was going to be made captain, and my feelings onDustin Brown aside, I'm bothered by the idea that you'd sell out your current captain that way.
Dean Lombardi seems like he has really terrible people management skills.
Re: What is up with your team? –– non-SCF edition
From: (Anonymous)IMO the fact that they stripped him means that they're sure they can't trade him. If they could have traded him and made Kopitar captain afterwards, they would have, but no one wants the contract (goes through 2022, I believe).
I think Dean Lombardi's philosophy is to see all the players as pieces before he sees them as people, which is a good skill to have as a GM but not as a human being.
That being said, Kopitar is going to be a great captain and this'll finally shut up all the idiots who think it should be Doughty.
Re: What is up with your team? –– non-SCF edition
From: (Anonymous)Idk, given his propensity to weep over them. He does seem to have a very strange emotional relationship to them, though.
Re: What is up with your team? –– non-SCF edition
From: (Anonymous)Re: What is up with your team? –– non-SCF edition
From: (Anonymous)I feel like he's that kind of obsessively "loving" right until the moment a player disappoints him (or there's a substantially better player/offer on the table), and then he becomes the cold-hearted bastard.

From: (Anonymous)I do agree that at least this will keep us safe from people talking about Doughty getting it.
Re: What is up with your team? –– non-SCF edition
From: (Anonymous)That seems incredibly shitty, wtf. And just a bad way to do business.
Re: What is up with your team? –– non-SCF edition
From: (Anonymous)He used to be an agent and before that a lawyer, so blood-sucking is in his nature.
Re: What is up with your team? –– non-SCF edition
From: (Anonymous)Is that something you've seen on Twitter? I haven't seen that, but that's one place I don't go.

This is where I saw it. Not sure if there were other sources too.
Re: What is up with your team? –– non-SCF edition
From: (Anonymous)I don't know where I saw it first - it's here too - http://mayorsmanor.com/2015/12/anze-kopitar-contract-nearly-done-with-la-kings/
But after reading that other article it was probably Friedman.
