Yes. Actually. I fucking do care about 1 & 2 & 3. I do. I could go on for days about it.

But.

I really don't fucking care if Jon Rua's part in the ensemble goes to a white actor. I'm sorry if people are up in arms in Hamilton fandom are (which, I have seen, and I am summarily unfollowing everyone I know who reblogs this shit on my dash).

I am a historian, actually (well, one in training, I don't have my Ph.D yet). But I also explained myself more in a different post.

Re: Fandom Venting

So by "academically minded" what you really meant was "nitpicky." Gotcha.

But not being able to turn your fact-checker brain off isn't a feature in all circumstances, which is what I thought they were saying, not "the rest of you are so dumb you're actually getting into the narrative storytelling like sheeple."

Sure, if that's how you want to interpret what I said.

Honestly, this

I really don't fucking care if Jon Rua's part in the ensemble goes to a white actor. I'm sorry if people are up in arms in Hamilton fandom are (which, I have seen, and I am summarily unfollowing everyone I know who reblogs this shit on my dash).

suggests that you don't fully understand the stakes of 1, 2, and 3 and why they're bad.

Re: Fandom Venting

Why the fuck did you feel the need to bring your shitty, wanky opinions on fucking Hamilton to deke? Stop. Walk away. We have enough wank about inconsequential shit that's actually hockey related without importing more.

Oh okay, so you're all about equal opportunity. Except that systemically speaking, the scales are tipped towards Caucasian actors in the industry. You don't get to make your value judgments in a vacuum, like "oh I hate the large-scale white-washing that goes on but I also don't see why people don't want to see the very few POC roles that do exist go to white people."

You're a liar. And you have some very definite reverse racism thinking going on. I don't like you.

Ah, that makes sense. I get pulled out of fic for minor details that I know objectively don't matter at all, so I get it. That's just not really at all what I thought of when you said "analytical."

whom she met at the 1992 Olympics when he was playing for Team USA.

...isn't that basically the plot of The Cutting Edge? (By which I mean, that's adorable.)

Re: Fandom Venting

From: (Anonymous)
If you're that detail-oriented then consider using words that convey the meaning you're trying to express? For instance, "I'm the kind of person who really gets thrown out of a story by historical inaccuracies, so I didn't enjoy Hamilton very much."

Re: Fandom Venting

Other people's verbal precision is never what meme thinks it should be. They already clarified. We can move on.

It's also almost two thirty in the freaking morning where I'm at and I'm tired. And I wasn't talking about the musical itself, but the fandom and why it bothers me. Which are two different things.

Sorry, man, it's also late where I am and I phrased that assholeishly. Truce? I'd propose some other topic that we might agree on, but that's surprisingly hard to do on this meme. Roman Josi is good-looking? Wayne Gretzky was objectively a pretty good hockey player? Don Cherry is 85 dicks crammed into a loud suit and Mike Milbury is 85 dicks crammed into a boring suit? Surely there must be something all of meme is on board with.

Re: Fandom Venting

DA

But how many dicks is Jeremy Roenick?

Pierre should shut up? That one's pretty universal.

Also, cilantro belongs on everything. /Wants to watch the world burn

Re: Fandom Venting

Nooo, for people who don't like it, it's not just a matter of subjective taste, it's literally a genetically inherited trait, it tastes like soap to us! Don't hate!!

(In case it's not clear, I'm talking about cilantro and not Pierre.)

There is also this great video of PK sailing through the Jays locker room on a scooter: https://www.facebook.com/AllAboutTheHabs/videos/1047552671986266/

Re: Fandom Venting

I'd say a slightly smaller number, but still way more dicks than anyone really wants to see in any given situation. Like 75 dicks.

Re: Fandom Venting

From: (Anonymous)
We've had cilantro play-fights before on meme! That's why I brought it up!

(It tastes like soap to me, but like delicious soap.)

Re: Fandom Venting

From: (Anonymous)
Or it smells like soap, but doesn't taste like it. /weird nonny

Re: Fandom Venting

From: (Anonymous)
Huh, I know someone who's the opposite-- it doesn't taste like soap to her, she just doesn't like the flavor.

Re: Fandom Venting

From: (Anonymous)
Well why didn't you use words that conveyed the meaning you were trying to express, huh??

(I'm sorry, just kidding!! Was the non-taste a gradual thing for you? From anecdotal evidence, I think it's possible to desensitize yourself to the taste. It's funny because it tastes like soap to me, but less than it used to, but it doesn't smell like anything to me at all.)

Re: Fandom Venting

I kind of like Pierre. I still want him to shut up half the time, but I find him bizarrely endearing.
