Re: What's Up With Your Team - Third Round and Counting

From: (Anonymous)
It does :/

It's just such a weird situation for him and the Lightning both? Captain, face of the franchise, and yet so many other young studs that will need contracts soon, and keeping as many of them at this point just seems more important to sustain success than overpaying for him.

Yeah, it kind of sucks for him that he basically knows that he's not worth to the team what he's asking for. They pretty much got too good to keep him (or need him), but never managed to quite get there and get him a cup. I believe that he loves the team and loves the city, and that the team would love to keep their captain, but I kinda wonder how he'll feel talking to Yzerman and knowing that that's where it stands. They don't need him anymore :(

I have no doubt of his love for his team, either, and it's just. Idk. They came so close last year, and nearly as close this year, and him being healthy just might have made a difference, then again these playoffs still proved they don't need him as the younger guys will probably get only get better snd already got the team so far. And negotiating now must suck, and it kind of was bad luck he got so good in a transition-type period (not sure if that's the correct to call it, not a Bolts nonnie, like like your team lots but far from an expert obviously).
