What are you listening to, or not listening to? Are there any general podcasts or team specific ones you like? Any by women?
I'm just feeling overwhelmed by the amount of "bros talking about hockey" in my current selection and need a change.

Like for men's hockey I'm currently listening to Steve Dangle (which can be obnoxious at times),Ice Level Podcast [Habs],and I pick and choose Puck Soup episodes based on the guests. For women's hockey, I'm listening to She Shoots She Scores, wasn't a huge fan of Don't Snow the Goalie.

There's Deep Heart Hockey (formerly Two Bearded Ladies) for the Dallas Stars run by two women.

I've never really gotten into their podcasts but I used to love their written posts before they started writing for profit on different publications.

Thanks, I'll give it a listen. Especially since the Stars are my team.

na I'm so glad they finally changed their name.

I often like the Hockey PDOcast, and for the Pens the Garage League Podcast.

I don't even like the Pens but I like the Garage League Podcast. Good sound quality, very organized, decent mix of stats and eye test.

Tessa Bonhomme just started a Women's Hockey/Sports Podcast.

Re: Podcasts

Piggybacking on this, are there any podcasts with women who talk about the Pens in a sports context (as opposed to an RPF context)?

Re: Podcasts

Not full podcasts but Centre Ice with Robyn Flynn has had Angie Carducci on to talk about Pens a few times lately, in addition to covering women's hockey on the show.

Re: Podcasts

I think there is a woman doing LFR-style videos for Pens games, but I never watched.

There's Two Girls, One Puck, and What's Icing hockey podcasts done by women.

They're okay, but neither updates frequently enough to keep pace with the season, and it becomes more obviously dated during the playoffs.

For Flyer's fans, The Orange Update has a woman on its regular panel, and she pretty much keeps the guys in line too (For example, Any talk of Kane was immediately cut off.) Literally the one episode she was gone they started getting too bro-y for me, and then realized what they were doing and self-censored. It was kinda nice (I mean the bar for sports podcasts is low here folks)

Gotta go with everyone else and recommend PDOcast. Honestly the only all-dude podcast I still care enough to listen to.

Re: Podcasts

I've tried listening to PDOcast, and I just can't with the constant arguing with invisible silent straw men. I want to hear their opinion, not them getting mad at and calling stupid the hypothetical opinion of the great unwashed non-stats following masses.

I listen to Hockey Central while I run. They often have good interviews - Kypreos and MacLean are terrible, but sometimes I think it's worth listening to because in some ways they represent a chunk of mainstream hockey old boys club that is still really prevalent today. Also sometimes they are just epically batshit - which makes me laugh. And when they argue I run faster. So that's nice too.

Junior is good if you want way more CHL knowledge than you ever did before. Sam Cosentino is really, really knowledgable and since I live in a WHL town I learn a lot about the league that isn't really covered locally. And since they come with the power of Sportsnet they usually have some pretty good guests as well.

I wanted Girls Just Wanna Have Puck with Katie Brown to be good because I like her but the other girl (Tally maybe??) was so hard to listen to that I was always turning it off 10 minutes in. (And I don't think they've done an episode in like a year)

Re: Podcasts

Hah, that's the same reason I endure through the amount of eyerolling that Hockey Central can cause - the quality of guests they consistency have, and to understand the mainstream narratives being peddled. And then occasionally you get a Kypreos-free and Maclean-free episode the same day, and depending on who is on, it's like a breath of fresh air.

I like it when Scott Morrison and John Shannon are on. Though I have a really hard time telling their voices apart.

And I like it when they get yelled at for using nicknames and all have a terrible time not calling Doug "Mac."

It also wouldn't shock me if their "narrative" is the official NHL-provided narrative also. So I feel sometimes like I'm doing due diligence about what the league wants us to believe. Whether it's true or not.

HC@Noon nonnie are you out there? It's me. Other HC nonnie. It turns out I discovered my limit. Last Thursday's show featuring regularly scheduled Kypreos and Maclean + special guest Glen Healy had far too much blowhard for me to handle. I had to turn it off for the first time maybe ever.

Re: Podcasts

I am not the anon you were talking to before. I didn't say anything when you guys were chatting before, because I don't actually mind Maclean & I like Kypreos. But I watch it on TV, which I think projects a different impression than listening to it does.

Anyway, I always skip Glen Healy episodes whenever he is on. It's never worth listening to.
