Re: General post-SCF thread

When did he even lose that tooth? Literally it takes me 5 minutes to recognize him I don't remember that gap at all

Re: General post-SCF thread

From: (Anonymous)
He definitely didn't have it (the gap, he had the tooth) when he was traded. Pens injury curse strikes again!

Re: General post-SCF thread

From: (Anonymous)
I don't think that an NHL player losing a tooth is anything new and special...

Re: General post-SCF thread

From: (Anonymous)
It's a fucking joke about him losing a tooth as soon as he joined a new team. And an injury doesn't have to be ~new and ~special to be an injury ffs.

Re: General post-SCF thread

From: (Anonymous)
This is the best thread policing I've ever seen. This place would be crazy boring if we only posted thing that were new and shiny and special.

Re: General post-SCF thread

From: (Anonymous)
Oh please relax. The point ayrt was trying to make was that losing a tooth is so commonplace for hockey players that it can hardly be counted as part of the "pens injury curse". The persecution complex is out of control.

Re: General post-SCF thread

That's... the... joke...

Re: General post-SCF thread

From: (Anonymous)
Do... people actually think Pens fans are being serious when they talk about the existence of a Pens injury curse? I mean, Despres and Sutter got traded and then got badly injured, and Pens fans talked about there being a reverse Pens injury curse. It's obviously a joke. (Right??)

Re: General post-SCF thread

From: (Anonymous)
Somebody on meme in the recent past literally pulled out stats to prove that the pens are THE MOST INJURED TEAM OF ALL so no, I'm pretty sure it isn't a joke. At least for some people.

Re: General post-SCF thread

From: (Anonymous)
Quantifiable evidence of a certain degree/amount of injury =/= believing that a team is injured all the time because they have an injury curse??? Pens fans complain about how injured they are/how that impacts their team all the time, sure, but they're talking about concussions and life-threatening ailments, not missing teeth. None of that translates into being serious about being cursed, lol.

Okay but the Penguins kicked that ~curse's~ butt https://twitter.com/ManGamesLostNHL/status/742333383334891520

Take that, curse!

ITT using stats = belief in the supernatural. Which actually explains a lot about how people talk about stats.

I think it's a little of column A and a little of column B. I mean. The existence of Beau Bennett alone is grounds for an injury curse. But we Ike bout it too.

Good lord. Joke. We joke about it too. Not whatever words I actually typed there

"Persecution complex"? Someone made a dumb joke about a missing tooth and is being told they aren't ~new and ~special. But ok.

Re: General post-SCF thread

From: (Anonymous)
The INJURY is not new or special, nothing was said about the person who made the joke???

Re: General post-SCF thread

From: (Anonymous)
I don't know about other Pens fans but uh. I've had enough of new and special injuries to last me a while. Thanks.

Re: General post-SCF thread

From: (Anonymous)
What would even qualify as a new and special injury? Crosby is out with a lower body injury due to be stabbed by a unicorn?

Re: General post-SCF thread

anon who made the stupid joke and now heartily regrets it

That was sort of the point of the joke? It's the quintessential hockey player injury that coincidentally happened after he joined the Pens, so it's a little silly (in the sense of funny but also in the sense of absolutely without credibility because it's obviously a total coincidence and not a serious or rare occurrence?) to suggest it's the result of a "curse"? Just like the other examples mentioned of Despres' and Sutter's injuries right after leaving the Pens happening because of a "reverse curse"? I understand if people didn't find my dumb humor funny, but I didn't think it merited a response that was very serious and kind of hostile, and that also seemed to miss the point completely.

ayrt

Ok, someone made a dumb joke about a trivial injury and got told, "but that injury isn't ~new and ~special!!" Without the clear undertone that the person making the joke is being a special snowflake.
