It has taught me that I'm happy my washing machine isn't in my kitchen or bathroom.

What is wrong with having your washing machine there? It's convenient! ;)

ayrt

Is it really?? (Honest question. Not sarcasm) It seems really inconvenient. But I'm a spoiled American who thinks not having a laundry room with a door I can close is inconvenient.

Yes? I guess if you have a house with enough space for a laundry room then it doesn't matter either way, but if you live in a flat, or don't have a big house, it's way nicer having it there than in the cellar. You can just pop in your laundry and don't have to walk through the hallways and up and down the stairs with your dirty laundry like a fool, lol.

I don't understand why it would be inconvenient. The noise? They're not even noisy, except for the spin cycle, I guess. But like, people usually don't do laundry when they want to chill in the kitchen or something lol

Does this mean European laundry machines are quieter, I wonder?

I'm an American, and my apartment has a laundry closet in the kitchen and it's fine? I mean, it has doors to shut, but it's not a room. It's a closet.

Yeah I know some people who having the hook ups and space for a first floor laundry was a selling point for their home.
