Anything in particular caught your eye, anon?

Re: Exchanges, etc

From: (Anonymous)
I know a pairing I want to prompt but can't think of any actual content for the prompt other than "I want them...to kiss, please write me something where they do that" :/

AYRT - I like some of the team Europe ones, and Mikkel Boedkar working his way through team Europe to show how over OEL he is could be really funny.

The Sequin/Duchene prompt could be good, because there are some ways they are alike and a bunch of ways they aren't. In Prague Duchene was with his Avs people and they aren't there now so maybe they spend more time together. They have heard a lot about each other over the years, how much is true.

Nathan MacKinnon actual golden retriever I like, but maybe not in a shippy way.

Team North America orgies I also like, possibly with added ELC tentacles.

Yeah, Matthews apparently liked some shitty stuff and calling him out on that is legit imo, but FUCK YEAH CALL ALL THE FOR-SURE WHITE BOYS OUT ON THEIRS TOO.

(Fwiw, I don't think Matthews is *meaningless* POC representation-wise, but I tend to think he's sort of partial credit/"it's complicated", particularly since he's basically white-passing.)

/disclaimer: i'm white

Go for it, anon! Most of the prompts are pretty open-ended.

Re: Fandom Venting

What gets me about this is that if you're going to use a nickname that denotes his heritage (I don't think I would tbh) why not use the one we know he already has (Papi)?

I think that is the key, to make sure that by filtering stuff out/unfollowing some people you're not missing everything. It's a bit of a balancing act to find the right people who provide levity but will still talk about important topics. But of course that is a personal thing of the person opting in on following someone rather than the responsibility of the one posting content.

But I read the original post the opposite way as you. They're not trying to stick their head in the sand (which is why they pointed out certain topics) but they feel overwhelmed. Maybe I'm giving them too much credit.

Well, you see, mijo combines cutesy tumblr speak with proving they know, like, at least ten words of Spanish. Very creative and cultural of them. /s

Eh, I think you're giving too much credit. They minimized the topics people have been complaining about by saying, duh, don't you know anything about real life where this happens all the time? -- when, yeah, no shit, and we hate it in real life, too? The difference is meme/fandom knows nothing and has nothing to say about someone' racist friend of a friend, but hockey fandom has all heard of Tortorella and have an interest in things that happen in the hockey world. "Oh he's just a little racist but everyone is" sounds a little too much either like a lack of empathy or a "don't bring real life issues into my sports!!" Like, I get that some fans who hate Torts are obviously enjoying getting to have unassailable SJ ammunition against him (which, ew), but for me, what he said and the fall out made me feel really, really terrible, like I'm not sure if I want to watch hockey anymore. So if this anon is feeling overwhelmed, you'd think they'd show more empathy for people who are overwhelmed by the existence of these issues, too.

Which, obviously how I feel and how other fans feel about particular issues isn't anyone else's problem or responsibility and you're allowed to be tired of the subject and to exercise self-care. But it's possible (and not very hard actually) to do that without being dismissive.

Re: Exchanges, etc

From: (Anonymous)
this is a totally valid prompt, anon! imo go for it.

Re: Exchanges, etc

From: (Anonymous)
On the kinkmeme I once prompted that I would like person A told hold person B against things.

I say go for it. Kissing is way better than my prompt.

I finally figured out the plot and everything! \o/

Now to write it in like a week... :|

If I managed to finish it on time, would anyone be willing to beta? (It's a caps ship.)

Re: Writing Thread

From: (Anonymous)
How long is it going to be and what kind of beta do you need? SPAG-check or more intensive stuff?

Re: Writing Thread

From: (Anonymous)
Hopefully around 5k? Not awfully long.

I'd be happy if someone checked my SPAG (English isn't my native language). Not like I think I wouldn't need anything more thorough, but with my bad time management that'd be too much to ask of anyone lol.

I'm watching this on espn3 right now since that it the only method it is available in the US, and there is no commentary...it is very strange

Did team Europe get lost? That was painful.

Maybe they forgot to switch the mic on.

Mine was like that too and I was actually enjoying it! Haha. Reminded me of going to AHL games as a kid bc you can hear the players yelling to each other.

I'm not sure changing goalie is going to fix anything.

I need Dylan Larkin to get traded to a team I already cheer for. He's super fun but I don't have time to be a Wings fan.
