Kyle Palmieri will replace injured Ryan Callahan on the Team USA roster.

Palmieri recorded a career-high 30 goals, 27 assists and 57 points last season and signed a $23.25 million, five-year deal this summer. Among U.S.-born players, only the Chicago Blackhawks' Patrick Kane and the San Jose Sharks' Joe Pavelski scored more goals last season.

I was talking to a friend who plays in a local beer league, and some of them are actually planning to go to the WCoH because apparently tickets for some of the less popular games are going for like $10-20 a pop. Does anyone know why this is? I kind of gave up on the idea of going because I assumed that all of the tickets would be going for full-price because of how hockey-crazy Toronto is, but this news is giving me ideas.

listening back to Wysh waxing rhapsodic about old school ESPN hockey coverage got me curious about who was was working the tournament for ESPN this year.

announcing USA games (and only those I guess? not team NA?), semi finals and finals: Barry Melrose and Steve Levy

all other games: John Buccigross and Kevin Weekes, w/Leah Hextall wherever they let analysts in Toronto stand at ice level.

In studio analysis, Adnan Virk, Buccigross, Brett Hull, and Chris Chelios.

I tried looking for an announcement of the Canadian broadcast team - I know it's on Sportsnet for prelims and CBC for semifinals and finals, but either they haven't bothered announcing a team cause it's the usual people, or I just couldn't find it.

ESPN international is going to show the games in other English and Spanish-speaking countries, and again my level of interest wasn't sufficient to try to find out whether they will actually bother to find spanish language commentators or translators or what. Viasat has the games in Finland, Sweden, Norway and Denmark.

Jamie Benn will not be attending the WCOH because he hasn't fully recovered from his surgery earlier this summer. He'll be replaced by Logan Couture.

Hampus Lindholm to replace Kronwall. That is a ridiculous upgrade, oh my god. Sweden's blueline is absolutely the best in this tourney.

Bouwmeester to replace Keith on team Canada due to injury. Subban might have been out immediately because he's a righty, but Bouwmeester over Giordano, who also shoots left, is a joke.

Does anyone know if the games will be available to watch online anywhere? I know I read they would be streaming but I live in Europe and the live timings don't work for me so I'll need to watch on catch up.

Heard Bill Daly on the radio. The preliminary rounds are going to have 3-on-3 OT for five minutes followed by a shootout like the regular season. The elimination rounds are going to have playoff NHL rules of full OT until someone scores.

I don't understand why there is a week of exhibition games leading into the World Cup of Hockey. Isn't it already an exhibition tournament?

Practical me is all in on the opinion this is a ridiculous cash grab by the NHL and they're having exhibition games for a exhibition tournament which is hilarious.

But I'm also superrrrrrrr giddy/excited for said exhibition games today which are probably going to be ridiculous because they all forgot how to hockey over the summer.

Looks like Giroux is a healthy scratch for tomorrow. I'm thinking he's hurt, but I was looking forward to seeing him play his Czechmates. :(
