Re: Fandom Venting
From: (Anonymous)lol, sorry to hijack your thread, OP! But I just hate both of these so much and they often seem to come in pairs, idk. Some romcom tropes need to be retired.

From: (Anonymous)Also, he was the mom. Suter's baby duh.
Re: Gossip/Player's Lives.
From: (Anonymous)I have to agree on the Nashville thing.
Totally here for mpregnant Shea Weber. And now I want Fisherwoods/Weber where it starts out as parenting help and goes ot3 eventually. I can't remember if that matches up to their RL kids' ages, though.
Bonus points for Suter maintaining some kind of relationship with the kid (skype dates, summer visitation, whatever possible).

From: (Anonymous)And to piggyback, the thing where the character's friends decide they need to get out / need to date more, and so they take the character out and set them up on dates against their will. No. If I had friends that tried that on me more than once, they would not be my friends anymore.

From: (Anonymous)That is fair. I think it's one of those things where I just never am going to enjoy reading it, however realistic it is, because I find it stressful. :\
Re: Hockey Media
From: (Anonymous)Not really new "news", but I remember an anon saying in this post or the last that they wished they knew more about Dylan Larkin, and I think this gives a pretty comprehensive view of his development track. Highlights include a picture of small child!Larkin and an anecdote about toddler!Larkin crying until his father got some real skates on his feet because he wanted to join his brother for some road hockey.
Did I find this article because something in a fic clashed with what I thought I knew about Dylan? ... Possibly.
I was right.

From: (Anonymous)Well, I guess it's also true that many authors who write this kind of thing aren't thinking "Hm, these characters are forced together a lot of the time and highly physical, perhaps it might be appropriate for one of them to be a bit aggressive here?" They're just writing the trope without much thought.
I'd be interested in a fic with a lot of betting rings, maybe played for farce, with characters all trying to manipulate events. It would work fine as gen, too.
Re: Fandom Venting
From: (Anonymous)Re: Things You Wouldn't Admit Unanon
From: (Anonymous)The offense, Harper excepted, was pretty dead that whole series, despite being much better on paper. I think some of it had to do with the scheduling - both WC teams made it to the World Series, and a lot of teams that clenched early were eliminated early because they basically iced the teams for several days prior to the playoffs starting, which after clenching early meant they hadn't played any real baseball in a couple of weeks, and had had a scrimmage the day before where it was clear they were already rusty. I think a lot of other teams fell to a similar fate.
Some of it was the Giants knowing how to play in the post-season, whereas the Nats had one pretty spectacularly bad post season series (oh, let's not talk about Game 5 of NLDS 2015) in their (non-Expos) franchise history, and some of it was poor bullpen management from a manager who was, surprise, fired the next year for ludicrously bad bullpen management.
So, a mix of shitty things and the only thing I can remember other than that 19-inning game was Harper trying to hit it out of the park in SF. Oh, and taking creep shots of Tim Lincecum sitting in the visitors' bullpen for a friend. He spits constantly even for a ball player.

From: (Anonymous)...I'd read this

From: (Anonymous)I think I know who that friend was, and also I think I am meme's only Giants fan. ;)

From: (Anonymous)It's going to be my new explanation for Carter's CBJ sulk. They were just trying to help!

From: (Anonymous)It probably is the same person, though, if she has a new superstar fave in hockey who you likely hate.
