Some can last years if it's very deep. Especially if it's over a muscle.

Well shit, now I'm lowkey shipping Olli/Jeff Zatkoff.

Wow, I'm genuinely surprised. Does there have to be continual bleeding into the bruise or does it just take that long for all the hemoglobin to break down and be transported out?

Me too, nonnie.

Right there with you.

You know, I always thought Zatkoff seemed like a good guy, but in the last couple of months suddenly all this stuff that is making me realize that he's the greatest, and now of course he's going to leave! Like, the interactions with Phil in that ITR ep a little bit ago were really fun, and did you see he's blogging for nhl.com?

I kind of want him to just join the Penguins front office, or maybe sign an AHL deal to mentor Jarry and stick around. He doesn't have a place as a goaltender on this team anymore and a Murray-Zatkoff full time tandem of the future would make me die of hypertension, but he's such an awesome dude and you can tell his teammates really really love him.

It's not really continual bleeding, when blood pools on a muscle it can just stay there for a long time. Sometimes it doesn't even hurt.

Yeah. It's the Fleury problem all over again, except with a lot less money and talent involved. :(

I don't know if there'll be room in WBS for him either, though - in addition to Jarry, the Pens also have Maguire and DeSmith in the pipeline. (I think? I can't seem to find hardly anything on DeSmith except that he played fifteen games for them this season.)

Maguire seems ripe for a future in Wheeling, at least initially. DeSmith was a bandaid PTO from the Nailers when Murray got called up while Jarry was injured, and he stuck around to back up Jarry because Murray stayed in the NHL post-deadline.

At one point, DeSmith and Jarry got injured and Maguire became the de facto "starter" until they could pillage the Nailers again, but when they both got healthy DeSmith took the starter job away from Jarry during his cup of playoff coffee and didn't give it back. Jarry had a rough year in general but I don't think the organization views DeSmith as a prospect in the same way as they do Jarry or even Maguire.

The WBS goalie drama was a long and winding journey this year, man.

This one is a bit late, but the semifinals round is up!

Bogosian has been eliminated and I am devastated.

If I am unexpectedly and irrationally fond of Justin Faulk after this, it will be all your fault. Something about his smiley mug shot makes me very happy.

Wow. That is so much drama. And I thought the big Pens had goalie issues towards the end there!

I wonder a lot about whether the farm teams get frustrated when the NHL team grabs their best players. Like the WBS Pens lost their starting goaltender, most of their best forwards, and Pouliot to the Big Pens. And then the Big Pens injured a couple of those guys and sat Pouliot indefinitely, and meanwhile WBS is trying to go on a Calder cup run.

Their shape was superb, but the thickness... it left something to be desired.

OP I'll happily take the blame on that one! That picture of him is indeed pretty great.

He looks a bit more murder-y in his Team USA headshot, in case you want something to off-set things for you:

There were definitely some frustrated and upset WBS fans, for sure. And in addition to all those players, they also lost their coach!!

That is not great, and yet still so much better a Team USA photo than Phil Kessel got. Wow, his hair, though. That is some lustrous, well-maintained flow.

AYRT Poor Kessel's photo is in a league of its own. So, so awkward. I feel like Faulk would be a strong contender for league's best flow.

I refused to vote for him because I am petty and still sad that Sceviour will not be the champion of this bracket. So.

Am I just being oversensitive, or is calling Phil Kessel's production "plus-sized" a really tired fat joke randomly thrown in this otherwise complimentary and informative article?

Re: Hockey Media

(Anonymous) 2016-06-01 05:10 am (UTC)(link)
That's how it reads to me, too. Is there some other use of the word "plus-sized"? I can't think of one off-hand.

Re: Hockey Media

(Anonymous) 2016-06-01 05:12 am (UTC)(link)
"While many foresaw plus-sized production when he came to Pittsburgh in a trade after the 2014-15 season, but Kessel’s 59 points fell short of expectations."

It's not even a grammatical sentence, smh.

Re: Hockey Media

(Anonymous) 2016-06-01 05:56 am (UTC)(link)
Yeah imo that's really gross.

http://www.sportsnet.ca/hockey/nhl/nhl-nearing-final-decision-possible-expansion/

Several tidbits meme might find interesting.

1) Teams that have too many NMC to fulfill expansion draft requirements for exposing players would face a heavy penalty in the form of losing picks and/or players.

2) It's believed that $10 million is needed to cover the travel and insurance costs for the players at the Olympics. Gary Bettman said he doesn't see the owners being willing "to pay for the privilege to disrupt our season.” An agreement needs to be reached by January, according to Bill Daly.

3) The Russian federation has now been officially informed that Slava Voynov is not eligible to play in the World Cup.
