Can I have a link to that?

I hate cilantro because it's really pungent. (Not one of the people who think it's soap-like.)

Re: Gossip/Player's Lives.

Way late, but: yes, at least one and I presume both of us "conspiracy theorists" was joking. In hindsight, it's always a mistake if I just use ! in my #internetjokes instead of !!!1!!1!!one!! Having accepted my failure, I just took a deep breath at anon's response and went to find different people to interact with.

Re: Gossip/Player's Lives.

From: (Anonymous)
You were the only "conspiracy theorist," I think? Other people were discussing the viability of the theory as if you were serious (but recognizing that you weren't), and then one anon flipped their lid.

I wasn't sure to be honest. But I found the pairing to be quite charming in its own way. I enjoyed Geno's internal struggle which is not something often seen dealt with in fic. On the whole, I'd recommend it in terms of being an interesting rare pair fic.

Re: Fic discussion

I thought it was really funny. But I can't tell if it's because it genuinely was or because the tag is full of rubbish these days:(

Adding to point #3:

The Russian Ice Hockey Federation is holding negotiations with the organizers of the World Cup – the NHL – concerning the issue of national team’s defender Vyacheslav Voynov.

Ugh.

http://archiveofourown.org/works/7052404 (Sam Reinhart / Jack Eichel).

Take a shot every time the words 'adorable', 'super (insert any word here', 'hot', and 'pouty' are used. I had no idea that reading could be so much fun.

I haven't read it, but I suspect that taking you literally would end with me getting my stomach pumped. That doesn't sound like fun to me.

Re: Hockey Media

From: (Anonymous)
This move confuses me, because I thought Russia didn't care so much about the World Cup. I could be wrong about that, I guess. It's that or they decided to fight the NHL on this for precedence reasons/some similar other motive. (Or they just decided to be fucking assholes. One of those.)

Re: Hockey Media

From: (Anonymous)
Na

I don't think they care about world cup, but they do care about others convicting their players and deciding they're not allowed to play. I think this is 99% about power and politics and 1% of them actually wanting him to play in the tournament

Re: Hockey Media

From: (Anonymous)
But even if the NHL agreed, he'd still likely not be able to get a visa, for either country. This whole thing is just fucking confusing on Russia's part.

Ooh, we could vote on Best Flow next!

Laine has to be a strong contender for that one.

AYRT

That's what I was thinking too (and what I meant by precedence, though I realize now that's super unclear), but it just seems like a weird issue to get into a power struggle over. I guess I can kind of see it if I squint sideways and make it about wanting to take power from the NHL even at an event that the NHL runs, but it really doesn't make Russia look good to outsiders, if that's something they care about at all.

Re: Gossip/Player's Lives.

From: (Anonymous)
Ayrt - I was the one to who got told to shut up, not the original secret family speculator, but if that's where it went off the rails, then sure, just me.

Re: Hockey Media

From: (Anonymous)
They really don't. They care about looking powerful and not having to obey other countries (especially USA), to their own people.

ayrt

Well then the person talking about "conspiracy theorists" clearly wasn't talking about you, since they were saying that Kathy's modeling career = lack of pregnancy = she and Sid don't have secret children... which is not what you were joking about in the comment where you got told to shut up, and has no relevance to your joke anyways.

SA

I'm from a country that debates things like these with them constantly. They want to look strongwilled and powerful inside, they don't really care for what the West thinks about them. The measurements of looking ridiculous or powerful aren't the same.

Re: Fic discussion

glory hallelujah someone told the author of that weird Seguin/ofc nympho fic to stop marking it as complete.

Re: Fandom Venting

I always thought the "shovel talk" was some weird American thing, like a girl's father cleaning his gun or rifle when her boyfriend comes over for the first time. I hope neither of these happen very often IRL.

Thank you stats nonnie!

Related to some of the wanks we've been having recently:

What to do in an exchange where you dislike your recipient from namespace and are also judging them hardcore for including RL children/wives in their prompts?

Re: Hockey Media

+ 1 to all of this.

I may have a soft spot for Phil Kessel because he's taken so much shit for his body type and as far as I'm concerned that's bullshit on any number of levels. (Fat-shaming is *never* cool, he's a cancer survivor so it's not impossible that his fat storage was affected by that, and his actual professional numbers speed/endurance/conditioning-wise do NOT bear out any kind of "too fat to skate" narrative imo.)

Re: Fandom Venting

From: (Anonymous)
Well, you could default. Or you could do the bare minimum--I can't remember what it's called, where all details are optional? I would probably just write a fluff piece at the minimum word count about one of the players.
