I really want to say Penguins in 5 with Phil Kessel.

But realistically, probably Sharks in 6 with Joe Pavelski.

AYRT

I decided to go with NHL.tv and the last Pens/Lightning game was available right after I purchased it, which was maybe 4 hours after it ended? Just if anyone else is considering it, I think the offseason package rules are different from the regular season package rules.

Should I be maligned? Anyway I'm not surprised Klinger got left off; he played terribly when they were scouting for Team Sweden.

Exact same here. Fuck the Sharks are scary.

Re: Random Hockey Thread

This is so not related to hockey, but the Puck Soup podcast from yesterday where a hungry, loopy Dave Lozo lists all the reasons he thinks Bucky Barns and Captain America are perfect for each other really made my whole afternoon. I'm glad that I'm more aware of him now, I like his writing/twitter/podcasting.

So many of those trademark no-look passes went awry. He didn't really do anything to distinguish himself in the playoffs either. I think by the end of the season teams had studied him enough to basically have his number and totally shut him down.

I hope they shake things up on the powerplay and also retire that fucking drop pass to Spezza, because the amount of heart attacks that thing gave me was even higher than the usual Stars Hockey(tm) level.

I rewatched the commercial again! It's still so weird and endearing.

Shatty trade is pretty hard to prognosticate for me. Not sure what the value of 4OA is. Top 10 picks always seem so overpriced to me. I feel like Edmonton aren't going to let go of Draisaitl even if we manage to put together a fair value deal with Shatty as the centerpiece. McDavid is obviously out of the question. RNH is more acquirable, but I'm not sure he's what the Blues need in a #1C. Quite a few other potential trading partners too. I've seen speculation on all of Boston, New York, Buffalo, Detroit, and Panthers after the Gudbranson trade.

It's going to be an interesting off-season for trades for D. Not a lot of good UFAs out there. Demers might already be the best of them.

In a tangent actually related to the thread we're in, I was a bit sad Bergy didn't make the Swedish roster. He had a good playoffs, but I totally understand the reasoning behind everyone picked. Don't know if Bergy was even in consideration. He loves playing for Sweden though.

SAME.

Re: World Cup of Hockey

Me too! But since my country doesn't have a decent team, I root for Canada during anything hockey related.

Also, the jerseys are ugly.

They've got 4 players who are PPG this playoff, Couture, Pavelski, Burns and Thornton. And they've got a lethal powerplay (which IMO can really hurt the Penguins if they don't keep their cool). Defensive depth in general, with Vlasic and Burns and their goalie has .920SV% with 3 shutouts.

A healthy Penguins team might counter them, but at this stage, it feels like the Sharks have got all the matchup advantages.

Dustin Brown has been stripped of the captaincy, Kopitar will most likely have it next year. If he refuses it's probably Carter.

Link and timestamp, please?

Re: Random Hockey Thread

From: (Anonymous)
I kept almost linking to the puck soup tweets promoting that, but I haven't had a chance to catch it yet. I'm glad it was worth the listen!

Re: What's Up With Your Team - Third Round and Counting

I saw an article speculating it would be Doughty, which. :/ I sure hope it's Kopitar.

That's kind of my feelings on drug use too? Like, do whatever you want in your free time as long as it doesn't start fucking up your life or other people's lives.

Re: Things You Wouldn't Admit Unanon

That would be hilarious.

I've liked the past couple of episodes with Sydney Esiason and an actor from the Flash TV show (the guy who plays Wells, I can't spell his name and can't check right now). Good to know this one was good too.

Re: SCF Predictions Thread

Do the Sharks currently have any injuries? I don't remember hearing of any, and that'd be a big advantage.

Re: What's Up With Your Team - Third Round and Counting

From: (Anonymous)
I remember a rumor when Kopitar signed his extension was that it was part of the deal to give him the C too.

Re: What's Up With Your Team - Third Round and Counting

From: (Anonymous)
Oh fuck yeah I'd rather it be Kopitar. I don't need any more "moral high grounds" reasons to hate the Kings.

(disclaimer: my West team is the Preds and Ribeiro was actually found guilty, not just accused, and *they* resigned him anyway. Not trying for "my team would NEVER" here.)

Re: What's Up With Your Team - Third Round and Counting

From: (Anonymous)
I'm not a huge fan of the Kings for rivalry reasons, but I find it impossible to dislike Kopitar. He seems like such a great dude.

Geno applied for a marriage license! I guess he's getting married in Pittsburgh, wow.

Re: Random Hockey Thread

I haven't listened to the most recent episode yet but I like him a lot, I think him and Wysh are a great duo. I hope they start doing the podcast more often.

Maybe they want to be married before the baby is born and since they're staying in the US for awhile yet, they don't want to put it off any longer?
