It was the best! It's a tweet.

I think you mean this one, for the curious:

This matchup has led to a lot of light-hearted comments in that vein. But I think my favorite comment anyone has made thus far was the Pens fan on tumblr who asked, "what do you guys think Sid is going to think of the Sharks' good luck black cat?"

I saw that on tumblr! And I enjoyed it, because I do really like sharks, as in the animals, and dislike the Pens, as in the hockey team, although I also legitimately have an issue with the rampant anthropomorphizing of penguins.

I have a sort of vague fondness for the Sharks, so I'm glad they have a shot at the Cup and hope it goes to them, for reasons unrelated to the black vials of hatred I inject into my veins on the regular. Of course, I also possess a vague fondness for the Blues!

Okay, fine, at least one single person said it. I maintain that it wasn't exactly the common narrative of that trade, and that in aggregate people felt the Pens had gotten the better end of that deal.

It wasn't that specific tweet that I saw, but yes, that's the general idea.

Re: Writing Thread

I have twelve thousand words of a fic written and I'm losing the motivation to continue. The lack of motivation is completely depressing.

Like... I'm not convinced she knows USNTDP has a team, it's not just a "Development Camp."

Re: Writing Thread

If you feel comfortable the pairing or basic premise, there might be someone on meme willing to motivate you...

The guy could have been stealing from that. It was a couple of paragraphs riffing on it, not just one sentence, and I'm pretty sure it was on the hf forums. Someone linked it in a reddit comment, and I followed the link.

Re: Writing Thread

From: (Anonymous)
The pairing will definitely give me away if I ever post it - pretty sure it doesn't exist in fic form as yet. Geno-centric rare pair though.

Re: Writing Thread

From: (Anonymous)
Well, I'm always up for more rare pairs in general, and I'm pretty sure there are several nonnies on meme who are totally up for more Geno-centric fic specifically! Is the story tripping you up or have you just reached a point where you're losing the will to keep writing?

Re: Prospects and Juniors

From: (Anonymous)
I do not believe Columbus is really shopping that pick. The media just wants someone to be shopping a pick.

I actually checked her tumblr to see what was going on over there because I know she talks to readers a lot and yeah. I get the impression that she knows next nothing about Boston, BU, college hockey, etc. I don't get why she's writing this story when she's clearly totally unfamiliar with the setting.

Re: Writing Thread

From: (Anonymous)
I completely understand. I have a couple thousand down for my Fandom Debut Masterpiece, it's so good, I know what I want to succeed, and it might even be within my skill range to accomplish it! Then work things happened, then procrastination happened, and now I'm afraid I've lost the thread.

Re: Writing Thread

From: (Anonymous)
I've hit a point where there are too many options, and I don't know which to write. I am paralyzed by indecision. I still have to go back and fill in some earlier blanks that I skimmed over/didn't finish, but I don't want to bother if I'm not going to finish. Also, having the "No one wants to read this except me" doubt.

Re: SCF Predictions Thread

From: (Anonymous)
The consensus was "eh. Maybe, but not as bad a regret as keeping Scuderi." Hm. All I saw was "we love Dales but it's not a perfect move" and "inevitably, when the Penguins get injured, they now have more depth, which is good"

Re: Writing Thread

DA

If it's a Geno-centric longfic, then you have at least one reader out there!

Do you have any feelings about how you want the story to end? Do any of your options help you get there more than the others?

Re: SCF Predictions Thread

From: (Anonymous)
Just saw this on my timeline -- Pens with the second most man games lost (behind the Avs) and highest cumulative quality of injured players since 2009:

https://twitter.com/ManGamesLostNHL/status/736335715324309504.

Pens fans talk about injuries more than anyone else because they have been more injured in ways more likely to negatively their team's outcomes.

Re: SCF Predictions Thread

From: (Anonymous)
Somehow this is the first Stanley Cup Final that has involved two teams named after animals. This seems impossible, given how many animal-named teams there are, but none of the dynasty teams involved animals, which probably helps explain it.

Re: SCF Predictions Thread

From: (Anonymous)
I'm sad that this nice thread about predicting who would win turned into another pens fans vs everyone else wank contest.

Re: SCF Predictions Thread

From: (Anonymous)
*rolls eyes*

Re: SCF Predictions Thread

From: (Anonymous)
Nah, at certain points it was pens fans vs pens fans too. I get the earnest enjoyment of how far the team has come and what it's taken to get here, but when someone's annoying, it's going to cause wank.

Re: SCF Predictions Thread

From: (Anonymous)
Also because it has been insane. Letang had a stroke. Olli Maatta had cancer. Duper had to retire because of blood clots. Like I'm pessimistic always expecting l the worst fan. But. Uh. I'm not sure even my doomsday attitude could have predicted what has happened to them.

Also, mumps. Many mumps. And Beau Bennett's ... everything.
