#24 – Not Sure If Serious or Playing Dumba

ayrt This fic makes me fond of them. Now, I'm going to be so sad when Shattenkirk gets traded. I hope the author plan more because even with 71K I can't get enough. It just keeps getting better.

DA I keep thinking I've steeled myself for Shatty inevitably getting traded this summer, but nope. Every time it comes up it's like, BAM, super sad and full of dread all over again.

Yeah, I know rationally that it's a necessary move since we don't have the cap room and so many guys have contracts up this off season. And it's better to trade him this off season instead of waiting for him to hit UFA, but I'm still going to be totally heartbroken when the inevitable happens. :(

Having Parayko around does soften the blow a bit because I really love that kid. And on the bright side, we've also got really great prospects in Schmaltz and Vannelli, and even some up-and-coming LHD with Dunn and Lindbohm.

I just wish we could keep everyone forever. Sigh.

I feel like having gone through the Oshie trade has prepared me for this. But only a little.

Oh man, I feel you there. Although I still get sad when I think about Oshie sometimes, even though I think the trade worked out really well for both teams. And I really like Brouwer! And Oshie's doing really well with the Caps! But I still really miss him. :'(

(Honestly, if Shatty gets traded I will probably be doing my best Libby Lu impression because I have a lot of emotions and absolutely zero dignity.)

I never feel let down by an update. This one was such a pleasant surprise because I'd had the feeling the author was done playing in the universe after the previous fic.

I really really like it - I think the characterization for each of them is great and clear, and the role of he ensemble is well done. I do with the author would punctuate dialog correctly - combined with the somewhat wandering POV there are times where I can't tell if something is being said to someone or by someone. But a minor pick in an otherwise really enjoyable and refreshing series.

New part up (gen backstory, Jori Lehtera is an awesome friend, but I am *so* glad I know this version of Vladi gets a pretty happy ending down the line.)

CW: Vladi *is* obliquely talking about suicide (no attempt or detailed planning) and is also clearly depressed in most of this. The author's note that "this is not a happy story" is accurate, so be aware of that.
